We will limit the content on this site—including in the comments section—to the topics we post about, and we reserve the right to control the topical scope of posts we make to the site. Lake County government deals with a broad but not limitless array of issues. Things that do not relate to the business of Lake County government, and which we reserve the right to delete, include the following:

1. Profane/Personal: Comments containing material that is profane, obscene, pornographic, or material of a purely insulting nature that is directed at a particular individual. The County’s business relates to the public at large, and comments should reflect matters of public concern, not matters that are personal or private in nature.

2. Discriminatory: The County is not in the business of discriminating on the basis of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation, and comments of such a nature will be removed.

3. Threats/Safety: We will remove threats to the safety of others, whether directed at an individual or to the public at large. Such threats include inciting imminent lawless action, fighting words, and true threats.

4. Political: The County is not in the business of campaigning, politicking, or electioneering, and such content will be removed.

5. Commercial advertising: Solicitations or commercial advertisements (i.e., content that advertises a product or service) will be removed.

6. Illegality: Material promoting or providing instructional information about illegal activities will be removed.

7. Intellectual Property: Content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others (such as their patents, copyrights, trademarks, service marks, trade secrets, etc.) will be removed. Dear Lake County Voters,
The vote-by-mail notices you've been receiving are a state-mandated requirement we're required to send every two years it's our job to make sure every voter knows their options. We've heard from many of you with thoughtful questions, and we're grateful for that. That's what civic engagement looks like.
But we've also received calls and emails that are mean, vulgar, and disrespectful toward our staff. That's not okay. The people answering your calls and reading your emails are your neighbors, your friends dedicated public servants here to serve you, like it or not.
Vote-by-mail isn't for everyone, and that's fine. How you cast your vote is your choice. Our job is simply to educate you about your options with kindness and respect, and we ask for the same in return.
Thank you to everyone who has engaged with us thoughtfully.

The Lake County Clerk's Office had a fantastic time at the Lake County Fair!
We connected with the community, handed out tons of resources, and helped 171 voters and future voters practice on our new tabulators. We answered plenty of questions, had some great conversations, and most of all — had fun. See you next year!

📬 Attention Lake County voters! Illinois law (10 ILCS 5/19-2.5) requires our office to notify every eligible voter of the ability to permanently request a Vote by Mail ballot ahead of each General Election — unless you're already enrolled in the program or have opted out. That mailing is on its way and should arrive soon.

Once you receive it, you can request your ballot right away. The first day our office can mail a ballot is September 24. Don't miss your chance to vote from home!

✅ Fastest option — Log in at LakeVoterPower.info, select “Request Permanent Vote by Mail” then "Electronic Request," complete the attestation, and submit. No signature needed!
✅ Print & mail — Select "Paper Form" after logging in, then print, sign, and mail your application.
✅ If you have not enrolled in the Permanent Vote by Mail program or opted out of receiving notifications, an application has been sent to your mailing address or will be emailed to you (if your email is on file with our office)!

The Lake County Clerk's Office was proud to attend the Partnership for Large Election Jurisdictions (PLEJ) Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, this year. PLEJ brings together election professionals from the nation's largest jurisdictions to share best practices on running accurate, secure, and accessible elections at scale.

Clerk Anthony Vega had the honor of moderating a panel, contributing to the important conversations shaping the future of election administration. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, learn from shared challenges, and bring back fresh ideas to better serve Lake County voters. A big thank you to PLEJ for having us, and to all the other jurisdictions whose insights and experiences made this such a rewarding experience.
