🚒 Upcoming Live Fire Training Exercise Notice 🚒

The Westminster Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD) will be conducting a live fire training exercise on Sunday September 27, 2026, in the 400 block of Barnes Avenue Westminster, MD. Training is scheduled to begin at approximately 0800.

This hands-on training is critical for our firefighters, allowing them to practice essential firefighting skills in realistic—yet carefully controlled—conditions. These exercises ensure our team remains prepared to protect and serve our community safely and effectively.

As our department will be operating in your neighborhood for the day, we are committed to minimizing any disruption to residents.

What to expect:
-Fire apparatus and personnel in the area
-Intermittent smoke throughout the day
-The structure will be safely burned to the ground as part of the training
-No anticipated traffic disruptions

Once training is complete, all hazards will be properly secured, and the site will be left safe.

Tower 3 is currently operating on box 9-20. Units arrived with a 60x100 building at the northern landfill with fire inside.

Tower 3 assisted on a house fire in Gamber this morning. Units arrived finding smoke showing from the dwelling. Crews located fire on the first floor and attic.

First due building fire. On 8/12/26, company 3 along with mutual aid departments were dispatched to an apartment fire behind the station. Units arrived with smoke showing from the roof. E32 deployed a handline though the building to the roof area and located fire in the roof line. Numerous other Carroll County Departments assisted on scene.

Engine 33 and Engine 32 responded earlier today for an auto fire. Units arrived finding one vehicle involved, spreading to others in the parking lot.

First due house fire

As storms came through the area on 8/10/2026, box alarm 3-12 was dispatched for the house fire. Chief 3 arrived finding smoke showing from the roof area. Crews located fire in the attic and were on scene throughout the evening opening up void spaces and extinguishing the fire.

Company 3 was dispatched to assist on this fire. E32 arrived as the second due engine.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD (August 10, 2026) — The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred Monday morning in Finksburg.

The identity of the deceased, a 64-year-old man, is pending notification of next of kin. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. A 77-year-old woman was also transported by ambulance to a burn center in Baltimore for treatment of injuries. Both were occupants of the home.

At approximately 5:23 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2026, firefighters from the Reese Volunteer Fire Co. and mutual aid responded to the 1800 block of Old Westminster Pike for a reported house fire. Deputy State Fire Marshals determined the fire originated in the kitchen area. Investigators found no signs of criminal activity at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Investigators were unable to determine whether the home was equipped with smoke alarms. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are assisting with the investigation.

Tower runs 2 alarm fire in Winfield. On 8/9/26, Tower 3 was dispatched to a box in 14s area for a house fire. Units arrived with fire throughout a large dwelling. While the Tower was on the fire, E32 responded on a box in Reese for a reported house fire.

On 7/26, company 3,10, and 9 were dispatched for a vehicle collision with entrapment. Units arrived finding one patient trapped.
