🎡 Westminster FallFest is almost here! 🎡

FallFest returns to Downtown Westminster September 24–27, 2026, bringing four days of rides, games, food, live entertainment, and the annual FallFest Parade.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: Downtown Westminster will experience partial to full road closures in connection with FallFest:

• From September 21–28, 2026, Distillery Drive will be closed from Locust Street to Longwell Avenue.

DURING THE PARADE:

• Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed from Sullivan Avenue to W. Main Street.
• Main Street will be closed from Old New Windsor Road to N. Center Street.

DURING THE THREE-DAY EVENT:

• Longwell Avenue will be closed from E. Main Street to Willis Street.

COMMUNITIES IMPACTED:
Residents and businesses in and around these closure areas should anticipate traffic impacts associated with the parade and FallFest activities. Increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic is also expected throughout the downtown area.

Today, the Westminster Police Department joins communities across our nation in solemn remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the innocent lives taken too soon, honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and civilians who responded with extraordinary courage and selflessness, and recognize the families, survivors, and communities forever impacted by the events of that day.

Twenty-five years later, their sacrifice and courage remain a lasting reminder of the strength and unity of the American people.

🚨SCAM ALERT🚨

The Westminster Police Department has recently been made aware of scam calls in which individuals falsely identify themselves as law enforcement officers and attempt to intimidate citizens into making immediate payments to avoid arrest.

These scammers may claim you missed jury duty, have an active warrant, failed to appear in court, or owe money for fines or other legal matters. They often use spoofed phone numbers to make the call appear legitimate and may even provide fake names, badge numbers, or agency information to sound convincing.

⚠️PLEASE REMEMBER:
• The Westminster Police Department will NEVER demand payment over the phone.
• Law enforcement will NEVER instruct you to pay using gift cards, cryptocurrency, Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, or any other electronic payment platform to avoid arrest.
• If you have an active warrant, officers will not offer to “resolve” the matter by accepting payment over the phone.

If you receive a suspicious call:
✔ Hang up immediately.
✔ Do NOT provide personal or financial information.
✔ Do NOT call the suspicious number back.
✔ If you are unsure whether a caller is legitimate, contact the Westminster Police Department directly.
✔ If needed, request a uniformed officer in a marked police vehicle and arrange to meet at the police department or another public location.

Scammers rely on fear, urgency, and confusion to pressure victims into acting quickly. Please help protect your family, friends, and neighbors by sharing this information.

The State Highway Administration will be starting a project to repave MD 27 in Westminster Sunday night at 8:00pm

All work will be done overnights, Sundays through Thursdays from 8pm - 5am.

Traffic Advisory: McDaniel Welcome Walk 🚧

Motorists should expect temporary road closures and traffic delays in Downtown Westminster:
Date: Saturday, August 22, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM

Approximately 450 incoming McDaniel College students will walk from McDaniel College to the Carroll County Public Library as part of this annual tradition introducing students to the Westminster community.

Road Closures & Traffic Impacts:

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Intersections along W. Main Street from Union Street to Railroad Avenue/MD Route 27 will experience periodic closures to allow students to cross safely.

Approximately 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM: E. Main Street from Longwell Avenue to Railroad Avenue/MD Route 27 will be fully closed.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider using alternate routes if traveling through the downtown area during these times.

🚓🥎 Supporting Our Community! 🥎🚓

The Westminster Police Department was happy to come out and support the Charles Carroll Cyclones Girls Fastpitch Softball team at their car wash fundraiser today!

Our officers stopped by, got a couple of cruisers cleaned up, and had a great time visiting with the players, coaches, families, and supporters. Events like this are a great reminder of what makes our community special.

Thank you to the Cyclones for the sparkling clean cruisers! We wish the players a fun and successful season! 🥎💚

Fresh Paint Coming to City Streets!

The City of Westminster is brightening up the recently paved roads with new yellow and white lines starting this Sunday night. Here is what you need to know about the overnight roadway striping project.

When: Overnight Sunday 8/9, Monday 8/10 & Tuesday, 8/11 from 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM.

What to expect:
Traffic will keep flowing, but please give our es**rt vehicle a little extra room if you see them out working.

The noise level from this work would be the equivalent of a street sweeper.
