Fresh Paint Coming to City Streets!

The City of Westminster is brightening up the recently paved roads with new yellow and white lines starting this Sunday night. Here is what you need to know about the overnight roadway striping project.

When: Overnight Sunday 8/9, Monday 8/10 & Tuesday, 8/11 from 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM.

What to expect:
Traffic will keep flowing, but please give our es**rt vehicle a little extra room if you see them out working.

The noise level from this work would be the equivalent of a street sweeper.

🚧 Traffic Advisory

Beginning at 12:00 PM, motorists should expect partial to full road closures in Downtown Westminster for the Toast to Italy Festival.

Road Closures:
• W. Main Street – John Street/Bond Street to MD Route 27
• E. Main Street – MD Route 27 to Longwell Avenue
• MD Route 27 will remain open with supervised pedestrian crossings.

Please plan ahead, use alternate routes if needed, and allow extra travel time.

🎆🇺🇸 Westminster Annual Fireworks Celebration 🇺🇸🎇

Join us on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Carroll County Farm Museum for Westminster's annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration!

Bring your family and friends for an evening of patriotic fun featuring delicious food vendors, live entertainment, children's activities, and an incredible fireworks display to cap off the night. Gates open at 4:00 PM, with fireworks beginning at approximately 9:30 PM.

Event Details:
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026 (Rain Date: Sunday, July 5, 2026)
Time: Grounds open at 4:00 PM & Fireworks approximately 9:30 PM
Location: Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center Street, Westminster, Maryland

🚧 Traffic Reminder:
To help ensure everyone's safety, several road closures and traffic pattern changes will be in place before and after the fireworks.

• Center Street will be CLOSED from MD Route 140 to Gist Road

• Beginning at 8:30 PM -- E. Main Street and E. Green Street will be closed between Center Street and Washington Road

• Following the fireworks -- Center Street will temporarily operate as one-way northbound until the area has cleared, after which normal traffic patterns will resume.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible.

Please welcome our newest lateral officer, Shannon Hilliard.

Officer Hilliard joins the Westminster Police Department as a lateral transfer from Pennsylvania, bringing many years of law enforcement experience to our agency. During his career, he was recognized as a Top Gun DUI officer for ten consecutive years, reflecting his commitment to public safety and proactive enforcement.

His experience, professionalism, and dedication to public service make him a valuable addition to our agency.

Officer Hilliard will be attending the Maryland Comparative Compliance Course through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC) as part of his transition to law enforcement service in Maryland.
