The Board of Education of Carroll County will briefly convene in open session on Wednesday, August 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the Charles I. Ecker Board Room at 125 North Court Street in Westminster to announce they will be going directly into closed session as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act, Section 3-305 (b) of the General Provisions Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland and Section 3-103 of the General Provision Articles of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The public Board meeting will commence at 4:00 p.m. in the Charles I. Ecker Board Room immediately following Closed Session.

During the Closed Session, the Board members will be discussing the following: Background checks for volunteers and associated costs; athletic account activity; legal advice regarding Sovereign Immunity for school construction requirements, complaints from a community member, and an OCR complaint; and Board members will discuss two current appeals.

What do you get when you combine baseball, Maryland pride, and outstanding educators? An unforgettable afternoon at Camden Yards! Amy Glascock, 2025-2026 CCPS Teacher of the Year and all of Maryland's Teachers of the Year were honored during a Baltimore Orioles game, celebrating the incredible educators who make a difference in classrooms across our state. From the excitement of the ballpark to the energy of cheering on the O's, the afternoon was a home run!

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow educators, celebrate the impact of teaching, and represent schools and communities from every corner of Maryland. Recognition like this is a reminder that great teachers don't just change classrooms—they help shape the future.

A huge thank you to the Baltimore Orioles for recognizing Maryland's Teachers of the Year and making us feel like MVPs for the day. Here's to teamwork, community, and continuing to knock it out of the park for our students every day!
