We’re excited to announce our transition to OneDose, bringing our providers an innovative clinical decision-support platform designed to enhance medication safety and patient care at the point of care.

Serving suburban, rural, and agricultural communities across central Maryland, Carroll County operates a combination career and volunteer system. As our EMS system continues to evolve, we’re committed to providing our clinicians with the tools, technology, and resources they need to deliver exceptional care.

With OneDose, our providers have access to real-time medication dosing, agency-specific protocols, clinical decision support, and eMACC medication cross-checking—helping provide an additional layer of safety before medications reach our patients. Our leadership team can also push protocol updates quickly, helping ensure crews have access to the most current guidance.

This partnership reflects our continued commitment to innovation, evidence-based medicine, and clinical excellence. From our Low Titer Whole Blood Program and RSI capabilities to point-of-care ultrasound, ventilators and advanced clinical education, Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS continues to look for meaningful ways to advance prehospital care.

We’re proud to be part of a forward-thinking EMS community and grateful to have partners like OneDose supporting our providers and, most importantly, the patients we serve.

Paramedic Jeffrey L. Schaffer was a Maryland EMS clinician serving on the front lines when COVID-19 arrived to Maryland in the Spring of 2020. Tragically, on August 10, 2020, Paramedic Schaffer died from occupational disease /COVID -19 at WellSpan York Hospital. Jeff Schaffer was a hard-working & motivated individual who had a passion for helping others and was dedicated to Emergency Medical Services. He was well known and respected throughout Maryland's EMS Community & was awarded Paramedic of the Year in 1999 by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems. He served as Chairman of the Carrol County Medical Advisory Board for over 25 years and was an active Life Member of the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Company. Jeff will always be remembered as a loving father and husband, true hero, mentor, colleague, and friend to many. Paramedic Jeffrey L. Schaffer was 67 years old and had served for nearly 50 years.

National Night Out brought communities together across Carroll County on Tuesday evening, and Chief Robinson had the opportunity to visit several neighborhood events throughout the night.

DFEMS career personnel and volunteers joined our law enforcement partners and other community organizations to meet with residents, answer questions, and strengthen the relationships that help keep our communities safe.

Thank you to everyone who came out to participate. National Night Out is a great reminder that public safety is built on strong partnerships between first responders and the communities we proudly serve. We appreciate everyone who helped make this year's events a success!

The crew from Mt. Airy found themselves in a wildlife rescue situation today when they responded to a report of a buck stuck in the mud.

Fortunately, the deer was able to self-extricate before the crew arrived, but it was completely exhausted and barely had the strength to stand. Lt. Moser offered the buck a much-needed drink of water from a bucket, and after a little time to rest and recover, the animal began to improve.

We're hopeful that with a little more rest, this handsome visitor will be back on his feet and safely on his way. All in a day's work!🦌💙
