Last day to stock up with our Angus beef with old pricing. We will be around the farm all day gardening, choring and yard work. We aren't the type of people who sit in our store waiting for you to come but we are the type of people who will drop what we are working on to come help you at the store 🤣 if you want to get some beef before prices increase tomorrow, please stop in, call or text.

Heads up...price of beef just keeps going up. There's a lot that plays into a quality steak, but simply said the demand for US Beef just keeps climbing. The cow numbers are still at an all time low due to droughts across America. An always increasing human population. The inability for farmers to actually profit from cattle means less people willing to continue the farming tradition/occupation. Our prices will go up on June 1 to reflect the current market price. If you're thinking about stocking up, visit the online store or call me before Monday. If you're looking for local beef, not grocery store chain or "off the truck", you can stop searching. I'd be happy to talk about our family farm, the way our cattle are raised and help you with dinner ideas.

Here's supper! I have 4 Denver steaks...these come from the chuck primal (everyone loves the chuck roast) and have beautiful marbling. Each steak is approximately 8 ounces, that's about 50 grams of protein. Get all 4 steaks, a dozen farms fresh eggs and a pound of asparagus for $50.

Kelly Herness (a top contender for the Alice in Dairyland title) was here this spring to interview us and tour the farm. She did a fantastic job creating this video for us. We spent 3 hours together and hosted her for dinner that evening. She is a rare gem in society. A girl with goals, visions and work ethic. Fun fact...her ancestors once were Kurth family and farmed this land ❤️

Buying local doesn't always mean quality...I had a conversation with another producer yesterday at BBQ fest...and it's prevalent...the consumer wants to buy local and support a local farmer. Keep the local economy strong and building. However, buying local doesn't always mean quality. It's extremely disappointing to buy from a local producer (thinking it's a better product because you know the guy) and receive a mediocre or worse product. There are plenty of folks who don't know the age of the animal they are selling to you. And age matters. Breed and size matters. There are a lot of details that go into making good, tender and flavorful meat. It matters to us and maybe that's from a lot of life learning and eating good, bad and top quality meat. Utilizing the U.S. Department of Agriculture Remote Grading Program allows our farm to send in the actual data and pictures from our beef and receive a grade for the quality. Our beef are selectively bred to produce a marbled steak. We want to bring Prime and High Choice steaks to the consumer. We may not always achieve that, but its what we are working towards. Getting a tough, flavorless steak sucks... especially for the cost of beef these days. Make sure you know you're getting quality from your local farmer. What if you're getting a 3 year old bull? It's okay to ask questions like, what's this animal been fed? How old is the animal? Meat gets tougher the older the animal. I just thought I'd clarify, buying local and home raised isn't enough...you deserve quality.
