🍦🚂 Thank you, Woodside Farm Creamery, for a wonderful evening with the railroad!

Our passengers enjoyed delicious ice cream at Greenbank Station followed by a beautiful, “fall-like” train ride through the Red Clay Valley.

The cooler evening air made for the perfect ride, and everything turned out terrific!

A big thank you to Woodside Farm Creamery for helping make the evening such a special experience for our passengers. 🍂🌙🚂

🚂 A fresh new look for one of our passenger cars! ✨

A big thank you to JJID, Inc. for the incredible work restoring our passenger car floor! From sanding and prepping the worn surface to a fresh coat of paint and beautiful new finish, their hard work and attention to detail really shows.

We couldn’t be happier with the transformation. Thank you, JJID, for a job well done! 👏🚂

🚂✨ Our Site Services team recently had the pleasure of restoring the floor of a passenger car at the Wilmington & Western Railroad!

The team put in the work — sanding and prepping the worn floors, repairing damaged areas, and applying a fresh new finish to bring this historic railcar back to life. 🎨🛠️

🍂🌿RED CLAY DAY! SEPTEMBER 20th! 🌿🍂

Immerse yourself in the rich history, natural beauty, and unique attractions of Delaware’s Red Clay Valley Scenic Byway. 🌳✨ Enjoy a day filled with family-friendly and adult activities, including heritage train rides 🚂, fishing 🎣 and birding programs 🐦, crafts 🎨, history walks 🥾, and guided tours.

Stop by the Red Clay Day Activity Hub at the Marshall Steam Museum from 1:00-4:00 p.m. 🕐 to learn more about the Valley’s history and resources and receive a free native plant 🌱 (while supplies last).

Engage in several of the many offerings throughout the Valley, then cap off your day with live music 🎶 and a refreshing brew 🍺. There’s something for everyone to discover and enjoy during Red Clay Day! 🍂❤️

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — FLOOD DAMAGE CLEANUP

The Whitewater Valley Railroad is looking for volunteers to help clean up flood damage at the South Connersville Railyard on Saturday, August 22nd.

📍 300 Southeastern Ave., Connersville, IN 47331
🕘 Meet at 9:00 AM

Projects may include:
- Mechanical equipment cleaning
- Cleaning buildings, coaches, and cabooses
- Debris pickup
- Automotive work
- Possibly track work

Volunteers should bring PPE (masks, eye protection,gloves), and wading boots or work boots. We have plenty of cleaning supplies.

Please wear clothing you expect to get wet and muddy!

If you have specific skills or experience that you think could be useful to us, please let us know.

🚂 From the Archives: The Broad Run Trestle — 84 Years Ago This Week!

These remarkable photographs offer a glimpse back in time at one of the Wilmington & Western’s long-lost landmarks — the Broad Run Trestle near Landenberg, Pennsylvania.

Stretching approximately 884 feet across the Broad Run Valley, it was the longest trestle on the original Wilmington & Western route and an unforgettable sight for trains making their way toward Landenberg.

As the Baltimore & Ohio operations beyond Hockessin declined, the trestle was dismantled in 1943, forever changing the landscape.

Today, little remains to tell its story — but through photographs like these, we can still look back at a time when this incredible timber trestle stood proudly over the Pennsylvania countryside. ❤️🚂
