Woodbridge Fire District No. 1 Board of Commissioners attended the Relay For Life event at JFK High School to support, honor and fight back against cancer. We extend our sincere thanks to the Board of Commissioners for their generous donation as we celebrate the strength and resilience of cancer survivors.

We would also like to thank IAFF Local 290 for providing food for all participants and guests. Your dedication, generosity, and commitment helped make this event a meaningful success in support of an important cause. Members completed annual SCBA Confidence and Rapid Intervention training. Members trained on forcible entry techniques and rescuing a downed firefighter utilizing various types of equipment.

The Scott Pak-Tracker is a hand-held receiver that detects a firefighter’s distress alarm that is integrated into their SCBA. Each of our SCBA’s transmits a distinct number that the Incident Commander has track of who’s wearing at an incident. This allows for a fast rescue of a firefighter who is in distress or is incapacitated.

The Scott RIT-PAK is a system that delivers emergency breathing air to a firefighter who is running low on breathing air or has run out.

The FAST Rescue Board is a specialized rescue device that is used to remove a downed firefighter or civilian from a building.

Members trained on radio communication skills by calling a MAYDAY and providing a LUNAR report, a standardized emergency mnemonic used by trapped, lost or injured firefighters to relay critical information. This enabled our Fire Officers to manage a simulated incident safely and efficiently.

Firefighters must stay updated with the latest techniques and equipment used to respond effectively to evolving challenges. Continuous education and training ensure our members remain proficient, prepared and everyone goes home!
