We are sad to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Yvonne Fonte.

Yvonne was a Past President of the Berks Democratic Women. During her career of service, Yvonne worked on the office of Mark Rossi. You can find her name on the Rising Star plaque in the office of the Berks Dems.

Yvonne was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all who met her. She was an inspiration to all of us. May Yvonne Rest in Peace.

Reading resident Johnethia Archie is being recognized for her dedication to both her career and community service. Archie serves as an executive officer and treasurer of the NAACP Reading branch, secretary for Berks Democratic Women, and has also volunteered with the Islamic Center of Reading. She credits her family, faith, and values of perseverance and kindness for shaping her commitment to helping others.

Berks Democratic Women is planning a continuous billboard project in order to repeatedly reach out to the thousands of infrequent or non-voters who don’t pay attention to politics. We are trying to reach those whose names are not on any of our social media or contact lists. There are more than enough to swing elections if they show up.

Our first goal is to get one up for the month of April, prior to the May primaries. The biggest ones on the busiest highways cost $5300; we must work hard and fast to collect the funding!

Present suggestions for slogans are:
1] Detention centers = Concentration camps.
2] Health care, not Warfare.
3] See ICE? Call: 610-850-9930

Across the bottom will be “Vote May 19”

Suggestions are welcomed! The shorter, the better. The design will be bold black block lettering on a bright yellow background.
