8:20AM: The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and multiple agencies responded to Gadsden Elementary this morning following a report of possible shots fired in the area.

The school was immediately placed on lockdown while law enforcement responded. We can confirm the reported noise was not gunfire and was caused by bird bombs being used in nearby fields.

There is no threat or ongoing situation at the school.

We appreciate the community reporting any safety concerns and YCSO thanks all the regional agencies for their quick response.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is releasing the following information pursuant to A.R.S. 13-3825, the Community Notification on S*x Offenders Law. The offender in this publication is living within Yuma County. It is the responsibility of the Chief Law Enforcement Office having jurisdiction where the offender resides to make notification to the community. Notification must be made when certain s*x offenders are released from the Arizona State Prison, accepted under an interstate compact or released from the county jail back into the community. Offenders are categorized into three levels: Level One (low risk to the community), Level Two (intermediate risk to the community), and Level Three (high risk to the community).

The individual who appears on this notification, Anthony Jolly, 49, has been convicted of a s*x offense that allows for community notification. Jolly has advised the YCSO that he is residing at 42374 Old Highway 80, in Roll, Arizona. He is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 280 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He is not wanted by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at this time.

On April 8, 1999, Jolly pled guilty to two counts of Attempted S*xual Conduct with a Minor in the Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, AZ. He was sentenced to one year in the Maricopa County Jail, with credit for 2 days served prior to sentencing, followed by lifetime probation. His victim was a female juvenile known to him.

Anthony Jolly is considered a Level 1 s*x offender with a low risk to reoffend.

This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community. The YCSO has no legal authority to direct where a s*x offender may or may not live. Unless court ordered restrictions exist, this offender is constitutionally free to live wherever he/she chooses. Citizen abuses of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass s*x offenders will not be tolerated. Karen Castaneda has advised the YCSO that she is residing at 4707 E. Udall Lane in San Luis, Arizona. She is described as 4 feet, 10 inches tall, 106 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is not wanted by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at this time.

On July 23, 2026, Castaneda pled guilty to one count of Open or Gross Lewdness in the Clark County District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was sentenced to 36 months of probation and is currently under the supervision of the Yuma County Adult Probation. Her victims were two adult females known to her.

Karen Castaneda is considered a Level 2 s*x offender with an intermediate risk to reoffend.

This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community. On March 15, 2000, Joslin pled guilty to one count of Lewd or Lascivious Acts with Child Under 14 Years in the Los Angeles County Municipal Court in Van Nuys, California. He was sentenced to 365 days in the Montebello City Jail with 24 days credit prior to sentencing, and four years of probation. His victims were two female juveniles known to him.

Jack Joslin is considered a Level 1 s*x offender with a low risk to reoffend.

9/21/26 The Yuma County Sheriff's Office has received a Missing Person report for the following individual:

Sydnie Nicole Marfione, age 25, was last seen traveling through Yuma, Arizona on July 11, 2026. She is believed to be traveling alone with her destination being California.

Serious Injury Collision
Location of Incident: 5200 Block of E. Airport Loop – Yuma, AZ

On Friday, September 18, 2026, at approximately 11:49 AM, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a three-vehicle collision in the 5200 Block of E. Airport Loop.

The initial investigation revealed that a white 2004 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound on E. Airport Loop veered into the eastbound lane for an unknown reason, sideswiping a red 2018 Ram 2500 before colliding head-on with a gray 2010 Honda Civic traveling behind the Ram.

The driver of the Honda Civic sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Onvida Health by Yuma City Fire for further medical treatment.

The drivers of the Silverado and Ram were assessed by Rural Metro paramedics and one of them was transported to Onvida Health with minor injuries.

This case remains under investigation at this time. Speed appears to be a factor in the incident.

📍 12400 Block of E. Brenda Drive - Yuma, AZ

On Friday, Sep. 18, 2026, at approx. 6:48 AM the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force – which is a multi-agency task force comprised of officers from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations – along with additional YCSO Investigators and YCSO Deputies, served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 12400 Block of E. Brenda Drive.

The search of the residence led to the discovery of approximately 20 grams of Methamphetamine, half a gram of Co***ne and multiple items of paraphernalia indicative of street sales. The search also resulted in the discovery of multiple fi****ms, including 12 ri**es, 3 sh****ns, and 8 handguns.

The suspect of the search warrant, Francisco Jose Caballero, 50, of Yuma, Arizona, was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for Misconduct involving Weapons by a Prohibited Possessor, Misconduct involving Weapons in a Drug Offense, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Narcotic Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
