Advancing knowledge-driven governance in the public sector.

PSETA Board Chairperson Dr Khuliso Kennedy Maimela, in collaboration with Dr Ernest Kanakana Mutenda of the Institute of Public Sector Ethics and Integrity Management Professionals, presented an academic paper at the 25th SAAPAM Conference 2026 titled:
"Post-PhD Deployment and ROI Accountability: Towards a Framework for Knowledge-Driven State Capability in South Africa's Public Sector."
The presentation contributes to critical discourse on professionalisation, state capability, accountability, and building future-ready public institutions through strategic utilisation of advanced skills and research expertise.

PSETA CEO, Ms Bontle Lerumo, joined distinguished leaders today as a panel member at the Director-Generals Panel Discussion during the SOUTH AFRICAN ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT Conference.

Contributing to critical conversations on public sector capability and development, Ms Lerumo highlighted key skills challenges facing South Africa, including the imbalance between skills shortages in critical occupations and the oversupply of skills in certain fields. Her contribution to the discussion underscored the importance of strengthening skills planning, aligning training initiatives with labour market needs, and building a capable, responsive public service.
