๐ŸŽ“ Today we officially kicked off the First Regional Academy on Dialogue and Culture of Cooperation in Tirana!

๐Ÿค 40 young leaders from all six WBF Contracting Parties have come together for a week of learning, dialogue and connection, in the Academy that is organised by the Western Balkans Fund and funded by the Open Society Foundations โ€“ Western Balkans and WBF.

๐Ÿซต At the opening ceremony, WBF Executive Director Dr. Gjergj Murra underlined that the programme is tailor-made to support a new generation of regional leaders.

โ˜‘ Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ms. Megi Fino pledged the full support of MEFA.

And Klodjan Seferaj, Program Manager at OSF-WB highlighted the Foundation commitment to empowering young changemakers.

๐ŸŸข The official programme of the day continued with a dedicated lecture by Majlinda Bregu on the Western Balkans and the Politics of Regional Cooperation.

๐Ÿ‘‰ For four straight days, ลฝabljak became the meeting point of a unique regional story, one where sport met friendship, reconciliation and stronger people-to-people links across the Western Balkans.

๐Ÿ€ More than 70 girls, aged 14โ€“15, from five WBF Contracting Parties came together through basketball, sharing the court, competing, learning and building friendships beyond borders.

๐Ÿค The event is part of the project "Western Balkans Girls Basketball Camp โ€“ Next Step", part of the GGI Grants Scheme, co-funded by the European Union through IPA III โ€“ Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, under the Civil Society Facility and Media Programme for the Western Balkans and Tรผrkiye.

โœ… The online session, starting at 11.00 will provide practical guidance on the currently Open Call for Proposals of WBF Move Grants, the Fundโ€™s flagship mobility scheme supporting individuals across the Western Balkans.

๐Ÿ’ช During the session, the WBF Secretariat team will present the main features of the Call, including eligibility criteria, application modalities, technical aspects of the application process, key dos and donโ€™ts, and practical recommendations for applicants.

The session will be conducted in English.

๐ŸŸข The Astronomy Club of Kosovo, in partnership with astronomy clubs from all six WBF Contracting Parties, has launched a Call for Participants for its newest regional activity.

The fully funded camp, taking place from 18-20 September, will provide:

๐Ÿ‘‰ The delegation was headed by Mr Yuki Sugiyama, Deputy Director at the European Affairs Bureau of Japanโ€™s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

๐Ÿค Our discussions focused on the strong partnership between Japan and the Western Balkans Fund, which has developed steadily over the past eight years.

We also explored new opportunities to deepen our cooperation, broaden its scope and generate an even greater impact in the Western Balkans.

๐Ÿซต We were pleased to receive 19 applications from successful local initiatives seeking WBF support to expand their impact across the Western Balkans.

The evaluation process is now underway and all applicants will receive the results within the next 10 days. Thank you to everyone who applied!

But our opportunities do not end here.
