The Newland Dog Park is now officially open! Marigold (our rescue dog from the AS Animal Shelter) got to be one of the first through the gates, and she loved exploring.

Thanks Brooke for the great photos of the many dogs and owners who came for the opening.

This petition around safe fireworks use is being circulated. With Independent MLA Justine Davis agreeing to put before the NT Government for debate.

Many of you have contacted me with concerns about fireworks.
I'm sharing a petition started by a member of our Johnston community which calls for sensible management of fireworks so we can celebrate and keep our community safe at the same time.

Here’s a few highlights from last night’s Alice Springs Town Council meeting.

We supported a motion to distribute resources about the safe use of fireworks and advising our community of areas that should be avoided (the river corridor, claypans, high fuel load areas).

We requested Council officers explore options to bring to Council about platforms that enhance our efficiency and allow relatives and community members access to information about those interred.

We approved the revised Community Support Policy, the helps Council Officers outlining our commitments and responsibilities for community programs.

We approved our Governance Framework, one of only a few Councils in the NT to have one. This Framework documents our legislative responsibilities and the actions and principles embedded in our work to support our community.

Join us for the Youth Arts Prize 2026 Opening Night as we celebrate the incredible talent of young artists from across our community.

This year's exhibition features 48 amazing entries from local artists aged 7-25, showcasing their creativity across drawing, painting, wearable art and sculpture.

Come along to enjoy the exhibition launch, awards presentation, live music and light catering as we recognise the next generation of creative talent.

Just attended our Territory Day Citizenship Ceremony. Today we welcomed 44 adults and 5 children from 21 different countries. A lovely morning with all our new citizens.
