Inland Rail

Inland Rail Inland Rail Pty Ltd is constructing the Inland Rail project, a 1,600km freight line linking Melbourne to Brisbane via inland Australia.

With a staged delivery approach, we are prioritising the construction between Beveridge, Vic, and Parkes, NSW, by 2027. Inland Rail is a 1,600km freight rail line, now under construction. It will connect Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Inland Rail involves enhancing approximately 1,000km of existing railway track and constructing 600km of new track pas

sing through regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. The sections of Inland Rail between Beveridge in Victoria and Parkes in New South Wales are prioritised for completion in 2027. Inland Rail Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), is building Inland Rail on behalf of the Australian Government. Work on Australia’s largest freight rail infrastructure project is well underway, and we’re partnering with regional businesses and communities to make it happen. As each section of Inland Rail is completed, it will be operated and managed by ARTC. View the route: https://inlandrail.com.au/where-we-go/

What happens when a 52 metre, 60 tonne steel bridge crosses paths with a tight roundabout? 👀

This gigantic, oversized load was manoeuvred on a specialised ‘jinker’ truck from Newcastle to our Inland Rail worksite in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.

Months of detailed planning went into moving the bridge truss safely on-site, and our crews made it look seamless!

It's all happening down south...from track lowering, demolitions, and the newest section of Inland Rail to go into construction, there's been no shortage of epic construction content for us to share.

Building a railway line for double-stacked freight trains = lots of track lowering!

Fly-through our Illabo to Stockinbingal section!

Our new 3D visualisation shows the entire 39km long rail corridor, complete with bridges, crossing loops and level crossings.

Construction is well and truly underway on our 39km section of new track between Illabo and Stockinbingal in southern NSW. 🛠️

This is significant — it's our first greenfield section that we're building from scratch, rather than enhancing existing railway lines. It will also open a more efficient way to transport freight, bypassing the winding, steep Bethungra Spiral.

We’re working hard to complete construction of sections between Beveridge, Victoria and Parkes, NSW.

In May, crews worked around the clock to complete a variety of work across southern NSW and Victoria. Like Short Street bridge in Broadford, where we lowered the track so double-stacked freight trains can safely pass underneath.

Construction is well underway on the sections between Beveridge, Victoria and Parkes, NSW.

For sections north of Narromine, NSW we’re continuing various approved and funded planning activities.

We’re working with the Australian Government to determine what is required to protect these remaining sections of rail corridor. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

In the meantime, exciting work continues in our southern projects. Stay tuned for what we’ve been up to…

This weekend will be a big one. ⚒️

From 2–5 May, our teams across Victoria and Southern NSW will carry out 86 hours of major rail and construction works during a planned super track possession.

With all train services paused, we can complete complex works safely, faster and more efficiently.

Check out these shiny new rails at Euroa Station 🤩

Trains travelling through Euroa are now using the new rail lines at the station. They’re also crossing the new rail bridge over the future Anderson Street vehicle underpass.

With the new tracks in place, our team can safely remove the existing track and platform to make way for the new station forecourt, car park and improved pedestrian access.

This work is part of Inland Rail construction in Victoria.
