Ever wondered how traffic and pedestrian lights know when to change? There is a complex system working behind the scenes to coordinate it!

A specialised computer called a ‘controller’ located near the intersection takes signals from sensors and push buttons to let them know when a car or pedestrian is waiting for the light. 🚦Once fully programmed the intersection can operate automatically, allowing for a smooth flow of traffic.

Batteries don’t belong in your household bin! 🚫

Even when you can’t see them, batteries can be embedded in everyday items. E-waste, including batteries, headphones, power banks and vapes, should never be disposed of in your red, yellow or green bins at home as they create a dangerous fire risk. 🔥

Instead, drop off your items at a resource recovery centre or a community recycling hub, where
e-waste can be safely recycled. ♻️
