⛹️‍♀️ Game On, Girls supports community‑led ideas that help teenage girls get involved and stay involved in sport and active recreation.

The program is designed to increase participation and retention for girls aged 13 to 17 by backing projects that create safe, welcoming and empowering environments.

If your club has a project in mind to increase participation in girls at your local club, please reach out to the Participation Team or contact your local Regional Office to chat through your project before submission.

Big boost for community sport across Western Australia! 🎉

A huge calendar of competitions, festivals and mass participation events across metro and regional WA will be delivered by 51 local organisations which will receive support through the Sport and Recreation Events Funding Program.

From major swims and runs to national championships, this investment helps bring communities together, supports local clubs and attracts visitors to regional towns and this funding helps make sure people across WA have more opportunities to get active, get involved and experience outstanding local events.💙🏃‍♀️🏄‍♂️🚴‍♂️

Big dreams start close to home for talented young athletes in regional WA. ⭐🏃‍♂️

Applications are now open for Regional Athlete Support Program Talent Development Centre athlete scholarships, supporting regional athletes to continue their development and stay on their pathway from their home environment.

The program helps athletes in the Kimberley, Pilbara and Goldfields access high quality coaching, daily training environments and sport specialist services, strengthening regional talent pathways and supporting participation in higher level competition.

Big creative opportunities for regional Aboriginal artists are open now! 🎨🌾

Regional Aboriginal Arts Development grants are open for projects that support Aboriginal arts and cultural activities in regional and remote Western Australia, helping share First Nations stories, build skills and create jobs in local communities.

Funding is available for creative development of significant Aboriginal art works, and for business development and capacity building for Aboriginal arts organisations.

Sporting clubs across the State can now apply for the WA Government's latest program Game On, Girls, with grants of up to $5,000 to help teenage girls stay active, confident and connected through community sport.

The initiative supports clubs to create inclusive and empowering environments that break down the barriers stopping girls from playing the sports they love. 💜⚽️🏀

It comes during the WA Government’s campaign, celebrating women and girls’ participation in sport this March and the vital role in WA’s sporting landscape.

🏃‍♂️💙 From coaching junior teams to running the canteen and organising weekend fixtures, volunteers are the heart of community sport.

Across WA, around 320,000 volunteers help keep community sport running and bring people together every week.

The WA Government has launched the WA Local Sporting Stars Volunteer Recognition Program to celebrate these incredible volunteers and their impact on grassroots sport.

Delivered with SportWest, Seven West Media and Spudshed the program will recognise volunteers who lead, include, innovate and support their clubs in countless ways.

Every fortnight, 2 winners will be celebrated in The West Australian, receive a $400 voucher and go into the running for the 2026 Local Sporting Star of the Year award. 🎉

🦸🏻‍♀️ Women across Western Australia continue to lead, create and strengthen our communities every day.

International Women’s Day on 8 March celebrates the impact women make across our communities every day. This year’s theme, Balance the Scales, highlights the importance of continuing to build fair, inclusive and accessible justice for every woman and girl.

March also marks the launch of , celebrating women and girls in sport and encouraging more participation at every level. The campaign lands alongside major sporting events, including AFC Women’s Asian Cup matches in Perth and the Australia v India Women’s Test Match at the WACA. 🏏🏃‍♀️

Across Perth, events such as A Montage of Women at The Blue Room Theatre and talks at PICA exploring matrilineal legacy are also highlighting the creativity, leadership and achievements of women in our communities.

CITS is proud to support initiatives that celebrate women’s contributions and help build stronger, more connected communities across Western Australia.

Throughout March we are celebrating women and girls in sport and shining a spotlight on their participation, leadership and impact across Western Australia.

Power Her Play will champion women and girls’ involvement at every level, from grassroots community clubs to elite competition, and acknowledge the vital role they play.

With Perth hosting the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, the Australia vs India Women’s Cricket Test Match at the redeveloped WACA Ground, and International Women’s Day on 8 March, it is the perfect time to celebrate women in sport. 🏏⚽

🏀 Basketball WA is helping young women shine on and off the court through its Empower Her program, now growing from an 8-week program to a 6-month leadership journey across the State.

Supported by the WA Government’s Sport and Recreation Inclusive Participation Program, Empower Her is building skills in playing, coaching and refereeing, helping girls from communities across Perth, the Kimberley and Pilbara become confident leaders and role models.

With support from partners including the University of WA and AIM WA, Basketball WA is also strengthening its inclusion policy so that everyone feels welcome, supported and able to participate.
