Daniel Scott - Mayor City of Karratha and I attended a moving ANZAC ceremony at Roebourne this morning. It is wonderful to see the community gather and reflect on the sacrifice of those before us. Lest we forget. Virginia Miltrup - CEO, City of Karratha Virginia Miltrup-OMeara City of Karratha

🚧 A big day for Karratha. Today with Virginia Miltrup - CEO, City of Karratha and I had the pleasure of turning the sod on a major new retail development that will bring Bunnings and other big‑box retailers to our city. This means local jobs, more choice for residents, and strong confidence in Karratha’s future.

Big thanks to DevelopmentWA for the support.

The City of Karratha has adopted its 2025/26 Annual Budget, the first guided by the City’s new Council Plan 2025–2035.

With a strong focus on community priorities, the $169 million budget funds a range of major projects and local initiatives that support liveability, housing, infrastructure, and inclusive community services.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the budget was shaped by direct input from the community and designed to deliver outcomes across the City.

“We’ve listened to what residents told us during the Council Plan engagement process – their needs, aspirations and the things that matter most in their daily lives,” Cr Scott said.

Key takeaways from the 2025 Developing Northern Australia Conference in Cairns!

The event made it clear that regional communities and businesses across Northern Australia are grappling with three shared key challenges:
🏠 Housing availability and affordability
👷 Labour shortages
💸 Rising costs of doing business

Our CEO Sarah Whelan appreciated the opportunity to connect with a wide range of stakeholders and support KDCCI members as they showcased innovative SME labour solutions.

Events like are vital to promote diverse perspectives, foster dialogue, and help build a stronger, more connected Northern Australia.

🤝 To drive real change, organisations in northern regions should collaborate and present a united voice to decision makers across the country.

📢 We need infrastructure that keeps pace with growth, support for thriving businesses, and above all, homes for our people.
