If you're looking for your next ride, you’ve got plenty of beautiful places to explore.

Here are some fantastic tracks you and your horse can enjoy:
📍 Tramway Hill Track – 0.6 km one way
📍 Margate Tramway Track – 1.5 km one way
📍 Barretta Reserve Tracks – 3 km
📍 Harts Hill – 1.2 km one way
📍 Manuka Hills – 1.8 km one way

Let us know which one if your favourite local trail!

🐴 Tips from TRAC: Sharing the trails safely

The Trail Riders’ Action Club Inc. (TRAC) is a Kingborough based group working in partnership with Kingborough Council to identify, open and maintain off road trail links for public use, whether on horseback, on foot or by bike.

To help everyone enjoy the trails safely, please follow these simple guidelines:
✅ Right of way
• Horse riders have priority and then walkers. Bike riders give way to both.
✅ Ride responsibly
• Keep horses and bikes at a controlled speed
• Slow down for corners and blind spots
✅ Trail courtesy
• On narrow sections, walkers and horse riders may step aside to allow bikes to pass
• If unsure, bike riders should stop and allow horses to pass
• When passing others, use your voice to alert other trail users of your presence, slow to their speed and be prepared to stop

For more information or to join TRAC, visit 👉 http://trackingborough.org.au/ or follow TRAC on Facebook.

Safer speed limit on the Channel Highway, south of Margate 👇

This speed limit change extends the existing 60km/h speed limit south of Margate by approximately 420 metres towards Barretta.

🚧Why the change? 🚧

The speed limit change follows a community submission for a speed review.

Our assessment supported a safer speed limit in this area because of several crashes involving vehicles turning in and out of driveways and intersections.

🚧How will the lowered speed help improve safety? 🚧

It will help reduce the risk of crashes by allowing drivers more time to safely turn on and off the highway and giving them more time to stop to prevent a crash.

🚧When does the change come into effect? 🚧

The changed speed limit will come into effect once the new speed limit signs have been installed, which is expected to be during the week starting Monday, 15 June 2026. ‘New speed limit ahead’ signs will also be placed to warn road users of the change.

REMINDER 👇

We welcome open discussion on our page, including questions, concerns, and criticism. However, comments that are include swearing, abuse, or threats will be deleted automatically and the posters will be blocked.

🌊 High tide dates to watch in Snug

Recent flooding has highlighted the risk of coastal inundation in parts of Snug, particularly during periods of very high tides.

To help residents better understand these risks, Kingborough Council has partnered with the Tasmania State Emergency Service (SES) to deliver a Snug Storm and Flood Ready information flyer to the community this week.

The flyer sets out the predicted high tides dates in June, July and August:
📅 June 13–18
📅 July 11–16
📅 August 9–12
🗓 Refer to the photo for dates and expected high tide heights.

Low-lying coastal areas, such as Snug Foreshore, Lower Snug/Old Station Road and Coningham, may be affected during these periods. Flooding is more likely if high tides coincide with storms, heavy rainfall or low-pressure systems.

Now is a good time to check your flood risk, review your emergency plan and stay informed.

Reminder: Closure date extended for Mountain Bike Park and Dog Areas

Council has secured extensions with contractors at the Kingborough Sports Precinct, with several facilities now set to close on:

📅 Monday, 22 June 2026:
• Mountain Bike Park and Pump Track
• Kingston View off-lead dog area (including the greyhound area)

📅 Saturday, 31 October 2026:
• Southern Obedience Club training area

These extensions help minimise the gap between closures and the opening of new facilities.

What’s next?
🚲 The Mountain Bike Park and pump track will be rebuilt with similar features after the AFL High Performance Centre is complete. A temporary pump track will also be installed at Kingston Park later this year.
🐾 The Development Application was approved for the new Off-Lead Dog Area at 34 Maddocks Road, Kingston at a recent Council Meeting and work has commenced.

We appreciate your patience as works progress and continue to shape the future of the Kingborough Sports Precinct.
