1st Combat Engineer Regiment The Regiment comprises four sub-units: 1st Field Squadron, 9th Field Squadron, 23rd Support Squadron and the Operational Support Squadron.

Combat Rescue Troop recently had the opportunity to work alongside NTPOL SAR/Traffic, St John NT, and TACMED/TOLL Aeromedical clinicians and crew during a Remote Retrieval Exercise at Lee Point. ⛑️

The exercise provided a great opportunity to work together in a realistic remote trauma scenario, focusing on patient care and packaging, casualty movement, interagency coordination and preparation for aeromedical winch retrieval. 🚁

A valuable day of training and a great chance to build relationships and learn from the different agencies and capabilities involved. 🙌

🚧💪🛠️ Going Underground 🛠️💪🚧

Construction Troop, 23 SPT SQN, recently completed a containerised bunker, with aim to provide a functional command post solution and reduce construction timelines contrast to conventional bunkers. This reduces exposure for our Sappers in hostile environments and provides an increased level of hardening and resilience for command nodes to operate from. 📡

Designed with consideration to communications requirements, overhead protection, full blackout lighting, and incorporating internal electrical, ventilation, and plumbed drainage solutions, the bunker sits within a steel and HESCO exo-skeleton, enabling rapid installation. Construction required strong cooperation between trade 🦺, plant 🚜 and combat engineer🪏elements, seeing involvement across a suite of our Regimental engineer capabilities.

With a hard fought effort from both regiments. But there could only be one winner with 1 CER coming home with the shield for 2026!
