Yeppoon State High School

Yeppoon State High School Yeppoon State High School strives to be a centre of educational excellence by providing an innovative learning experience for students.

We encourage and support our students to reach for the STARS. Teaching and learning is at the core of all we do and high quality learning experiences are purposefully designed to develop the attributes of life-long learners. Whilst emphasis is placed on academic outcomes, we believe that the development of a holistic education through the teaching of values and ethics instils in our graduates a se

nse of decency and respect for others. We are a school, proud of present and past students. We will continue the tradition of publicly recognising the many sporting, cultural, community and academic achievements of our students and staff.

Meet our Junior Readers Cup Team for 2026. Ena, Elaina, Tarliah, Ava and Esmae, mentored by the amazing senior, Hope, travelled to Gladstone on Monday to compete in the Qld Readers Cup event. Each year this event continues to grow, with our team up against 16 other school teams, including some who โ€œteamedโ€ in from regional distances. Managed and inspired by their teacher, Miss Gorham, our students presented themselves with pride and enjoyed the experience.

As our male, Senior Rugby League lads get stuck into the June Push-up Challenge, they are inviting/challenging staff (especially teachers) to join them in adding to the push-up total. All to raise awareness and students voice in supporting conversations around mental health in our communities.

Our Marine Science students were excited to welcome back former student Josh Johnstone, who is now studying Marine Science at James Cook University. Josh shared his experiences, highlighted the incredible opportunities available through marine science, and provided valuable advice on scholarships, university pathways, and gaining hands-on experience. The session encouraged students to start thinking about their own future pathways and the steps they can take now to achieve their goals. We thank Josh for returning to share his experiences and inspire the next generation of marine scientists, and we wish him all the best for his upcoming study opportunity at university of South Pacific in Suva, Fiji next semester.

Our Year 11 and 12 Ancient History students recently stepped into the shoes of archaeologists during an engaging workshop delivered by the University of Queenslandโ€™s Antiquities Museum. Exploring artefacts from a Roman villa and examining ancient Roman coins, students gained hands-on insight into daily life in ancient Rome and the skills used to uncover and interpret the past. A fantastic opportunity to bring history to life!
