👷 Labour Mobility: EBC attends the European Labour Authority’s 8th Forum on the Posting of Workers in Brussels to discuss the Fair Labour Mobility Package (FLMP), , liability and EU coordination rules.

The European Commission, national authorities and social partners addressed the of social security documents and the application of social security rules to new forms of work.

EBC will continue engaging with the European Labour Authority to promote fair labour mobility and workable rules for construction .

🏠 Affordable & sustainable : EBC joins the kick-off meeting in Bologna, hosted by the Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, bringing together 18 European partners to explore innovative solutions for more affordable, sustainable and inclusive .

This new project will test three physical pilot projects: of an existing housing complex in Brussels, a new social and affordable apartment building in Kalamata, Greece, and a hybrid model in Milan where new helps finance renovation. Virtual pilots in Modena and Dublin will explore how these approaches can be adapted elsewhere.

The project will also develop practical tools, including a for construction and renovation solutions, building components and tailored business models.

EBC will bring the perspective of and craft enterprises to HARMONIA, helping them contribute to Europe’s housing and renovation ambitions and benefit from practical innovations.

🚀 Skills: partners met in Sofia on 21 and 22 October for a conference on sustainable and their fourth Transnational Partners’ Meeting, hosted by Bulgarian Construction Chamber and organised by Cleantech Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian conference brought together the European Commission, Cedefop, European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), European Training Foundation, ECTP - European Construction and sustainable built environment Technology Platform, sector organisations, training providers and European project partners to discuss the future of skills in construction, including , green and digital , artificial intelligence and .

Together with FIEC and EFBWW, EBC presented progress on the in Construction, highlighting the importance of cooperation and sharing good practices to address skills gaps across Europe.

During the project meeting, the partners also reviewed progress on the , pilot continuing vocational education and training ( ) programmes and the Moodle e-learning platform.

EBC remains committed to helping develop the skills needed for the green and digital transition, supporting a more and construction sector.

📢 EBC President Jean Christophe Repon and Secretary General Fernando Sigchos Jiménez visited CNA Costruzioni in Rome, together with a delegation from CAPEB Grand Paris.

Discussions focused on housing and in Italy, France and Europe, addressing also the CNA Costruzioni Executive Committee on the EPBD and EU public procurement rules.

📢 Health & Safety: EBC becomes an official partner of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work ( ) Healthy Workplaces Campaign on mental health at work, running from 2026 to 2028.

As EBC President Jean Christophe Repon said: “Mental wellbeing is an important part of a safe and healthy workplace, and construction is no exception. EBC is pleased to join “Together for mental health at work” to help raise awareness in our sector and encourage practical, proportionate approaches for the micro-enterprises and SMEs that make up 99% of it.”

In , physical demands, tight deadlines and skills shortages can put pressure on workers and entrepreneurs, even more so in smaller companies where they operate side by side.

EBC will continue to raise awareness and promote good practices on mental at work, with a focus on the needs of construction .

🚀 Training: EBC invited to high-level event “Towards a European Apprenticeship Area”, organised by Euro App Mobility in Paris.

Building on the initiative of former French Minister and MEP Jean Arthuis, the event gathered European and French policymakers, industry leaders and networks to strengthen cross-border apprentice mobility.

As key providers of throughout Europe, construction SMEs play an essential role in training the next generation of skilled workers. The event marked the official launch of the European Club of Employers, a new EU network bringing businesses together to facilitate apprentice exchanges across Europe.

The conference also featured a keynote address by Mario Nava, Director-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion at the European Commission , on EU-wide perspectives for apprentice mobility.

EBC will continue to support initiatives that strengthen and enable construction to contribute to skills development across Europe.

📢 Energy efficiency: EBC attends the Friends of Europe Energy and Climate Summit 2026, with Energy and Housing Commissioner Dan Jørgensen.

The Commissioner stressed the role of energy in tackling high fossil fuel prices, pointing to the benefits of upgrading windows, expanding heat pump use and lowering electricity taxation to encourage cleaner energy.

The summit also addressed water efficiency and the growing energy demand of AI, underlining the importance of solutions and .
