Get • Gulf Air announced its intention to introduce direct flights to Kuala Lumpur, further strengthening air connectivity between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Malaysia while offering motorsports fans and passengers a seamless gateway to the excitement of the 2026 FORMULA 1 GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX.

The airline’s partnership with Formula 1 dates back to the first Grand Prix in the Arabian Gulf region in 2004, reflecting the strength and continuity of that relationship. As title sponsor of the race, Gulf Air remains proud to stand behind the event and bring the Kingdom of Bahrain’s hospitality to Malaysia.

Get • Formula 1 and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) have confirmed that Malaysia will host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the iconic Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4, 2026, under a unique agreement between Bahrain and Malaysia.

The race, subject to final agreements and approval by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, will take place between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix on the 2026 Formula 1 calendar. The remainder of the championship schedule will remain unchanged.

Formula 1, the FIA, and the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia reached the agreement to ensure the Bahrain Grand Prix remains on the 2026 calendar despite regional challenges.

Today, Tuesday, 21 July 2026, H.E. Dato' Shazryll Zahiran, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Bahrain, met with Mr. Benyamin, General Manager of AirAsia X, and Ms. Amanda Woo, Group Chief Commercial Officer of AirAsia.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on strengthening Malaysia–Bahrain connectivity, enhancing tourism and business linkages, and exploring areas of cooperation that support greater people-to-people ties and economic engagement between the two countries.

The Embassy of Malaysia looks forward to continued engagement with AirAsia to support initiatives that further strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate greater connectivity between Malaysia and Bahrain as well the GCC region. AirAsia remains committed on its strategies for West Asia.

In the effort to further economic relations and industrial cooperation between Malaysia and Bahrain, H.E Dato’ Shazryll Zahiran, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Bahrain undertook a meeting with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) today, Monday, 20 July 2026

H.E Dato’ Shazryll was met with FMM President Mr. Jacob Lee Chor Kok, FMM Deputy President Dato’ Andrew Goh Boon Kim, Vice-Presidents Datuk Noraini Sultan and Dato’ Palaniappan Joseph, FMM Selangor-Kuala Lumpur Branch Chairman Dr. Helena Eian Yeut Lan, and FMM Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr. Yeoh Oon Tean.

Discussions focused on strengthening support for Malaysian manufacturers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in accessing the Bahraini market through enhanced business connections, market opportunities, and potential strategic collaborations.

Both sides highlighted the importance of closer coordination between FMM and the Embassy of Malaysia in Bahrain to promote industry linkages, share market insights, and create greater awareness of business opportunities in Bahrain and the wider Gulf region.

This engagement reflects Malaysia’s continued commitment to expanding economic partnerships, supporting industry growth, and creating new pathways for Malaysian businesses to establish a stronger international presence.

On behalf of the Government of Malaysia, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Shazryll Zahiran signed the condolence book opened at the Royal Thai Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, on 18 June 2026 following the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita of Thailand on 11 June 2026.

The Ambassador conveyed Malaysia’s deepest condolences, sympathies and profound sorrow to the Thai Royal Family, the Government of Thailand, and the people of Thailand 🇹🇭 over the loss of the much loved Princess of The Kingdom of Thailand, Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati.
