What an unbelievable, nerve-wracking, and historic final match! Yesterday’s Inter-Class Khuru Tournament for Parents reached a dramatic climax as the top three strongest teams of the tournament—Team Class IV D, Team KMSS Staff, and Team Class X B—faced off in an epic showdown for glory!

The battle of targets was so fiercely contested that play stretched late into the evening, finishing around 7:30 PM. Under the night sky, with lightings illuminating the field, all three teams displayed incredible focus, skill, and sportsmanship until the final dart was thrown! ⚡🎯

🎯 Preserving Tradition & Building Community: Inter-Class Khuru Tournament for Parents! 🎯

Khuruthang Middle Secondary School successfully conducted the Inter-Class Khuru Tournament for Parents yesterday, 19th September 2026! The school playground was buzzing with energy, excitement, and vibrant traditional spirit as parents from Classes PP to X took to the field.
A total of 37 teams stepped up to compete, representing 36 class sections alongside 1 dedicated Khuruthang MSS staff team!

🌟 Theme & Objectives
Under the theme “Playing Together, Preserving Tradition, Building Our School Community,” the tournament was organized with key goals in mind:
1️⃣🎯 Preserving Tradition: Promoting and keeping alive the traditional Bhutanese game of Khuru.
2️⃣🏫 Supporting Education: Generating funds to assist the school in purchasing essential teaching and learning materials for our students.
3️⃣🤝 Strengthening Bonds: Building stronger relationships, cooperation, and unity among parents, the school, and the wider community.
4️⃣👥 Active Engagement: Creating an inclusive platform for parents to participate directly in school activities while fostering friendship, teamwork, and healthy competition.

Khuruthang Middle Secondary School extends its warm congratulations to our eight student athletes who proudly represented our school at the Punakha Dzongkhag-level Nationwide 3x3 High School Basketball Championship on 11th September 2026! 🌟

🏆 Our Key Achievements
✅🥈 Boys Team – Runners-up: Our boys fought hard all the way to the final match, securing a commendable Runners-Up finish after an intense final against Ugyen Academy!

✅🏀 Girls Team – Semifinalists: Our girls played with remarkable spirit and determination, reaching the Semifinals before losing a well-contested match to Team Ugyen Academy.

🌟 About the Initiative
This championship is an exciting new grassroots development initiative organized and coordinated by the Basketball Federation of Bhutan (BFB). Rolling out across all Dzongkhags over the next two years on a region-by-region basis, the program aims to promote youth engagement, talent identification, and modern 3x3 basketball technical skills in collaboration with an expert 3x3 basketball coach from India.

The School Literary Committee of Khuruthang Middle Secondary School is excited to observe Reading Week from 7th to 15th September 2026, in celebration of International Literacy Day on 8th September! International Literacy Day is a global observance established by UNESCO on 26th October 1966 during the 14th session of its General Conference, and celebrated worldwide since 1967.

On 26th August 2026- Professional Development (PD) Program aimed at strengthening administrative alignment and embracing modern educational tools.

The session covered two key areas:
1️⃣Sharing of DEOs & Principals Virtual Meet Minutes: Vice Principal Madam Lhamo briefed the staff on key decisions, policy updates, and administrative directives discussed during the recent virtual meeting between Dzongkhag Education Officers (DEOs) and Principals.

2️⃣AI Literacy for Teachers: Mr. Choki Tenzin conducted an engaging presentation on AI literacy, introducing teachers to innovative digital tools and strategies for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, lesson planning, and administrative tasks.

In a heartwarming gesture of alumni giving back, former student Ms. Dorji Wangmo donated five copies of the book "Gyelsey Laklen Guide Book: Meto Pema Karpo" to the Khuruthang Middle Secondary School library. Made in loving memory of her late father, Mr. Tshering, and in honor of her mother, Mrs. Ugyen Dem, the donation reflects her deep gratitude for the foundational values and education she received during her years at KMSS.

The donated books provide a clear Dzongkha explanation of Gyelsey Laklen (The Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva), serving as a valuable resource to foster compassion, good conduct, and cultural appreciation among students. The school administration and community express our sincere appreciation to Ms. Dorji Wangmo for her generosity and for contributing to the spiritual and intellectual growth of future generations.

On the evening of 19th August 2026, the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) of Khuruthang Middle Secondary School was filled with warmth, nostalgia, and laughter as our three esteemed superannuating educators—Principal Haki Wangmo, Madam Chimi Zangmo, and Lopen Penjor Wangchuk—hosted a magnificent Grand Dinner for the entire staff of KMSS and members of the School Management Board (SMB).
Rather than a formal farewell, our retiring senior educators hosted this special evening as a personal gesture of heartfelt gratitude, reflecting on their dedicated years of service and celebrating the wonderful memories, bonds, and camaraderie built over decades.
