ABTO, Department of Tourism, and Green Bhutan Corporation Limited Convene Stakeholder Consultation to Strengthen Lampelri Recreational Park Partnerships
Punakha, Bhutan — 17 June 2026.
Green Bhutan Corporation Limited (GBCL) today hosted a stakeholder consultation meeting at Lampelri Recreational Park, bringing together the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO) and representatives from the Department of Tourism to discuss the future of flagship eco-tourism products such as, Plant for Tomorrow, the Zipline Adventure, and the Tree Canopy Walk.
The full-day consultation, organised by GBCL's Marketing Scetion was structured around product showcases, open market discussion, and structured stakeholder feedback. Delegates were briefed on the conservation purpose and visitor experience design of Plant for Tomorrow, the safety standards and operational protocols underpinning the Zipline Adventure, and the route, accessibility, and interpretive content of the Tree Canopy Walk which is under construction as per the Master Plan.
In the session, ABTO delegates engaged directly with GBCL's PMMS team to assess market potential, visitor profile alignment, and promotion strategies for each product. The discussion also covered trade pricing, booking procedures, and co-marketing opportunities — laying the groundwork for a more structured commercial partnership between GBCL and Bhutan's tour operator community.
“This consultation reflects GBCL’s commitment to building tourism products that genuinely serve both conservation goals and the needs of the operators who bring visitors to experience them,” said the GBCL CEO. “The feedback we received today on Plant for Tomorrow, the Zipline Adventure, and the Tree Canopy Walk and other priority products will directly shape how we refine these offerings and structure our partnership with ABTO going forward.”
ABTO delegates welcomed the opportunity for direct engagement, noting that consultations of this nature allow tour operators to shape product design before offerings reach the market, improving the likelihood that new attractions are integrated meaningfully into existing tour itineraries rather than added as an afterthought.
“Operators are best placed to advise on visitor fit, seasonality, and promotion, and today’s session gave us a genuine voice in shaping how these products reach the market,” said the ABTO Chairman. “We look forward to continued collaboration with GBCL as these partnerships take shape.”
The consultation aligns with broader national priorities around sustainable, high-value tourism, with engagement from the Department of Tourism underscoring the sector-wide significance of collaboration between state-owned enterprises and the private tour operator community in expanding Bhutan’s portfolio of nature-based visitor experiences.
Way forward. Participants agreed on a set of follow-up actions, an invitation to present GBCL products during ABTO’s Annual General Meeting, and the development of operator-facing promotional materials, clarification of booking and dedicated contact focal, and continued dialogue between GBCL, ABTO, and relevant government stakeholders to support the rollout of Lampelri Recreational Park's tourism offerings.
