Thimphu Thromde extends a warm and sincere welcome to Thrompon Ugyen Dorji upon formally assuming office as the Thrompon of Thimphu Thromde.

Following the grant of Dhar by His Majesty The King on 31 July 2026, Thrompon Ugyen Dorji officially assumed office after being elected in the Dzongkhag Thromde Tshogde Elections 2026, held on 15 July 2026.

The staff of Thimphu Thromde extend their heartfelt congratulations and look forward to working closely under his leadership in advancing good governance, enhancing municipal services, and serving the people of Thimphu Thromde with dedication and excellence.

Thimphu Thromde wishes Thrompon Ugyen Dorji a successful and fulfilling tenure in leading the capital city towards continued progress and sustainable development.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲
The ongoing installation works at Kaja Throm could not be completed as scheduled due to unforeseen underground utility cables and other services encountered during excavation.

Starting today, to expedite the remaining works and minimize overall inconvenience to commuters, the road will be fully closed to all traffic from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM until the works are completed.

Thimphu Thromde sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused and kindly requests all commuters to plan their travel accordingly. Your continued patience, cooperation, and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Thimphu Thromde would like to inform the public that the Construction of Storm Water Drain at Lungtenphu, Changjiji, Olakha, and Babesa Areas has commenced with a budget of Nu. 29.65 million.

The project covers Lungtenphu (from Lubding to Olakha Park), Olakha, Changjiji, and Babesa (in front of Dawa Store) and includes storm water drain construction and road crossing works with Hume pipe installation. The project duration is 6 months.

During the construction period, the public may experience temporary inconveniences such as traffic disturbances near Changrikphel School and Dawa Store, and possible disruption to underground cables and pipes near Olakha Park.

The public is requested to kindly be cautious while travelling through the construction areas. Any inconvenience caused during the construction period is highly regretted, and we appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation.

𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴–𝗞𝗮𝗷𝗮 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱
Thimphu Thromde would like to inform the general public that, as part of the ECRUL Stormwater Drainage Project, the installation of a precast box culvert at the CFM area along the Changlimithang–Kaja Throm Road will commence from tomorrow.

The installation works are expected to take approximately three (3) days. During this period, commuters may experience traffic disruption and congestion in the area.

Residents and commuters are kindly advised to use alternative routes wherever possible and plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays.

Thimphu Thromde requests the public's patience, cooperation, and understanding during this period as we carry out these essential infrastructure improvement works.
