SANDF BAND LANDS IN GABORONE FOR THE 32ND ANNUAL BDF BANDS IN CONCERT STYLE!

Honoring an exclusive invitation from the Commander, Botswana Defence Force, General Mpho Churchill Mophuting, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Band has landed in Botswana to perform alongside the BDF Band for the 32nd BDF Bands in Concert.

Led by Major General Donald Mumanyi, Chief Director, Human Resources Management (SANDF), the visiting delegation spent their first day immersing themselves in Botswana’s rich history with visits to the iconic Three Dikgosi Monument and the Botswana National Museum and Monuments.

Following their heritage tour, Major General Mumanyi paid a courtesy call on the Commander BDF, who warmly welcomed the guests. The delegation alongside BDF command then met with both BDF and SANDF bandsmen to offer words of encouragement as rehearsals kick into high gear.

This year’s grand opening on Friday, 30th October 2026, promises an unmissable spectacle! Alongside the combined power of the BDF and SANDF Bands, the stage will feature live performances by local superstar Charma Gal and legendary BDF Band pioneers.

BDF COMMANDER RECEIVES LETSILE TEBOGO FOUNDATION TEAM

Following the support and participation of a Botswana Defence Force team at the inaugural Letsile Tebogo Cancer Awareness Marathon, a team led by Letsile Tebogo this afternoon paid a courtesy call on the Commander, Botswana Defence Force, General Mpho Churchill Mophuting, at BDF Headquarters in Mogoditshane.

The purpose of the visit was to express appreciation for the support rendered by the BDF to the Foundation in its current and future endeavours.

The Botswana Defence Force regrets to confirm the unfortunate death of a service member last night following an incident involving a service r***e at Glen Valley Barracks.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by the Botswana Police Service for requisite action,

The BDF extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and urges members of the public to refrain from speculation pending finalisation of investigations by the Botswana Police Service.

GENERAL MOPHUTING LEADS 30-MEMBER BDF TEAM AT INAUGURAL LETSILE TEBOGO CANCER AWARENESS MARATHON
The Botswana Defence Force joined the nation this morning in the fight against cancer at the Inaugural Cancer Awareness Marathon hosted by the Letsile Tebogo Charitable Foundation in Gaborone.

The BDF delegation was led by the Commander, Botswana Defence Force, accompanied by a team of 30 Senior Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers who participated as an organised team.

The Letsile Tebogo Charity Marathon is part of the Foundation's commitment to raising awareness about cancer, promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting cancer survivors amongst others. The activity also brought communities together in solidarity with individuals and families affected by cancer.

The BDF joined participants from Government, the private sector, civil society, sporting organisations, cancer survivors and members of the public in a powerful show of national unity.

The participation of the BDF greatly enhanced the event and sent a powerful message of discipline, unity, resilience and national solidarity in support of cancer awareness.

The BDF remains committed to supporting national initiatives that promote health, community wellbeing and national development.
