La Ruta Maya 2026

12 BATSUB personnel, including 3 LECs, once again competed in the Belikin La Ruta Maya Challenge. Over four days they paddled 170 miles from San Ignacio to Belize City.

Congratulations to all those involved and a huge thank you to everyone involved in supporting and organising the race.

BATSUB annual Unit Health Fair

With a focus on key themes of lifestyle, mental health, injury prevention, and preventative care. The day also featured a lively volleyball tournament to promote teamwork, fitness, and community spirit. 🏐💪

• BHP – Blood sugar/BP testing, MRI/CT scan info & offers
• BERT – CPR, trauma care & wound care training
• BCF – Field care & injury management

Tracking Training Programme:

Both military and civilian staff from Range Control have recently delivered a week-long Navigation and Military Tracking training programme to the Belize Maya Forest Trust (BMFT).
The training was delivered to enhance operational skills while fostering cooperation and maintaining strong working relationships with local partners.

Yesterday we said goodbye to Lt Col Somerville as he officially completes his handover and passes the reins on.

Thank you for two years of outstanding leadership, dedication, and service. Your impact has been truly appreciated by all.

We wish you every success and the very best of luck in whatever comes next.

At the same time, a warm welcome to our new Commander - Lt Col Wallace as he steps into the role. We look forward to the journey ahead and working with you in the months to come.

BATSUB Community Engagement

Throughout 2025 BATSUB personnel and personnel from exercising units have actively engaged in community outreach initiatives to provide meaningful support to the local population.

The images below show the following engagement:

1. Blood Drive: 56 units collected from BATSUB and exercising units.

2. Tree Planting: Range control assisted Belize Maya Forest Trust with planting 550 Lysiloma Latisiliguum trees.

3. BDF Nursery infrastructure improvements

4. Donation of furniture to Liberty Ladyville United Christian Group.

5. Repairs and maintenance to the Youth with a mission bridge.

6. Improvements to Ladyville sports complex both Basketball court and the children’s playground.

EX MAYAN CYCLONE

3 PARA recently completed Ex Mayan Cyclone in the dense Belizean Jungle.
From navigating unforgiving terrain to mastering survival skills, the troops demonstrated resilience, adaptability and teamwork in one of the most challenging environments on earth.

The Ex saw 3 PARA conduct camp attacks, patrolling, ambushes and an FTX, culminating with an LFTT package.

They also delivered a 4-day UAS package to the BDF, strengthening interoperability and sharing cutting-edge capability.

BATSUB Remembrance Parade 2025 🇬🇧

Today, members of the British Army Training Support Unit Belize (BATSUB) gathered to mark Remembrance Day in a ceremony of reflection and respect.

On parade alongside BATSUB personnel were members of the Belize Defence Force, 23 Para Engineers and 524 STRE.

We were honoured to be joined by representatives from the Royal British Legion, the Belize Ex-Serviceman’s League and the British High Commission.

Together, we paused to remember the courage and sacrifice of all those who have served, and those who continue to serve.

Lest we forget.

Belize City Remembrance Parade 2025
🇬🇧🇧🇿

Personnel from the British Army Training Support Unit Belize (BATSUB) joined counterparts from the Belize Defence Force and the Belize Coast Guard in Belize City to mark Remembrance Day 2025.

The parade honoured all those who have served and who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts past and present.

Together, the participating forces stood united in remembrance and respect for those who gave their lives.

We will remember them.

Deputy Direct Land Warfare Centre and Commander Collective Training Group visit to BATSUB.

During the visit they engaged with troops in the jungle and met with representatives of the BDF.
