Vanguard College Library Check here for the random, wonderful, and usually hilarious books at Vanguard College Library. Plus In the late 1970’s the College acquired the D.N. Library.

The Vanguard College Library is believed to have been founded very early in the history of the College shortly after 1946. The original library was housed on the second floor of Central Pentecostal Tabernacle. The library was then named the Hillerud Memorial Library in honor of Professor Hillerud who was an original and significant donor. Buntain Administration Building on 106 Avenue. At that time

the building was renovated to include the PAOC District Offices and the library on the ground floor. In the fall of 1979 the library was dedicated to former long serving President J.C. Cooke and the library then was renamed the J.C. When the college acquired its own campus in 2004 and moved to facilities in Westwood several reconfigurations and renovations have been necessary due to the growth and service of the collection. It is now housed on the second floor of the college building and with the college renamed Vanguard College the library is now known as the Vanguard College Library. When we assumed the administration of the Schalm Memorial Library of Taylor Seminary in 2012, the Schalm Memorial name was posted to identify this aspect of the collection. The earliest known and long serving librarian was Rev. John Morsch. At his retirement and with the appointment of Rev. Ernest Francis as president, Mrs. Shirley Francis became the librarian until the appointment of Rev. Brad Fawcett in 1979.

VJTM: Publication and Call for Submissions

As you may have noticed on Friday, VJTM Volume 4 Issue 1 is now published! To read this edition, visit our website. Thank you to all our authors, peer reviewers, and copyeditors who contributed to this labour of love. We are very proud to showcase a diversity of voices speaking on what it means to live out the reality of pentecost in mind and body..

Volume 5 of VJTM is now calling for submissions. This year's theme is A Working Faith: Serving Beyond Salvation. In this issue, we discuss what “successful” ministry looks like in atypical or unorthodox environments when evangelization is either not ideal or not possible. If our service does not result in salvation, is it still worthy?

The deadline to submit for volume 4 is May 30th, 2026.
