Surrounded by the Canadian Rockies and Columbia Mountains it is perfectly located at the junction of the historic Kicking Horse and Columbia Rivers. Nestled between Yoho and Glacier National Parks, Golden BC offers adventure for everyone, from hiking, whitewater rafting and mountain b

iking in the summer, to downhill skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, snowmobiling and heli-skiing in the winter. There are no fancy shopping malls here, but three mountain ranges, two historic rivers and six mountain parks coupled with a real mountain community makes for an unfogettable experience.

How much space does wildlife need? More than you think. 👀🐻

Getting close might mean a better photo, but it can put both you and the animal at risk. When exploring Parks Canada national parks around Golden (and anywhere outdoors) give wildlife the space they need to stay wild.

Keep at least 30 metres away from most wildlife and 100 metres from bears, wolves, cougars and coyotes. Never approach or follow wildlife for a photo, and if an animal reacts to your presence, you’re already too close.

A little distance goes a long way!

Extra credit is a fun blue rated downhill trail within the mountain shadows trail network in Golden, BC.

The name “Extra Credit” is a nod to the Golden High School Outdoors Class that built the trail.

Some will tell you they settled on “Extra Credit” after the preferred name of “child labour” was rejected by the school 😂

Thanks to Mark Matthews for the video 🚵
