Ring Stones Executive Director James Macaree is running this year's Great North Run to raise money for Derian House Children's Hospice.

Derian House supports more than 400 children and young people across the North West, providing care and support for families when they need it most.

The charity supported James and his family after his son Jake was born with a rare genetic brain condition in 2020, and continued to provide care and support through the family's most difficult times, including after Jake passed away in 2022.

After already helping raise nearly £20,000 through previous challenges, James is taking on another fundraising effort this September 💛

Research has recognised the work that helped Blackpool achieve hepatitis C micro-elimination 👏

The study looked at a programme delivered between 2024 and 2025 that increased testing and treatment for people accessing drug and alcohol services. It found Blackpool met all national micro-elimination targets, despite historically high rates of infection.

The findings highlight what can be achieved when health, public health and voluntary sector organisations work together to improve access to care 🤝

A job can be about far more than earning a wage. It can bring confidence, routine, independence and a fresh start.

As an Employment Advisor, you'll support people in structured treatment for drug and/or alcohol use to find and sustain paid employment that matches their goals and aspirations.

Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, you'll work one-to-one with individuals, helping them identify strengths, explore opportunities and move towards employment. You'll also build relationships with employers, helping create opportunities and supporting people once they're in work.

We're looking for someone who can build trust, motivate others and work confidently with both employers and partner organisations.

Finding accommodation is only one part of the journey out of homelessness. Creating the support around someone to sustain it is just as important.

As an Homelessness Support Worker, you'll work closely with homelessness teams, housing providers and partner agencies to help people move away from rough sleeping and towards stable accommodation.

You'll build relationships with individuals, identify barriers to engagement, coordinate support and advocate for people throughout their journey. Once accommodation is secured, you'll continue supporting people to settle into their home and maintain their tenancy.

We're looking for someone who understands homelessness-related issues, can manage a caseload effectively and is able to work confidently with a wide range of partners and stakeholders
