IMPORTANT NOTICE - Due to a rare red warning of extreme heat, GWR are warning customers to only travel if essential tomorrow and Thursday.

Extreme heat can cause rails to expand and buckle, so when temperatures reach certain thresholds, trains must run more slowly to keep services safe. This will mean fewer trains and slightly longer journey times during the warmest periods of each day.

During this heatwave, it’s important to know that some mental health medications can affect how your body responds to heat, increasing the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

This can include some antidepressants, antipsychotics and anti-anxiety medicines.

If you take medication:
💧 Drink plenty of water
🏠 Stay cool and avoid the hottest part of the day
💊 Keep medicines stored according to the instructions and out of direct heat and sunlight
⚠️ Never stop taking prescribed medication without medical advice

If you feel unwell, dizzy, confused, unusually agitated, or think you may be experiencing heat exhaustion, seek medical advice.

For more information, speak to your pharmacist, GP, NHS 111, or visit the NHS and GOV.UK heat health guidance - www.gov.uk/guidance/mental-health-medications-and-extreme-weather

Some helpful tips from NHS Gloucestershire on how to keep your home cool during hot weather ☀️⬇️

🌡 Remember to take steps to keep your home cool during hot weather

🔺Close blinds and curtains on windows that are exposed to direct sunlight
🔺Move to the coolest part of your home and open windows (if it is safe to) when the air feels cooler outside than inside
🔺A cool living space is especially important for infants, older people or those with longterm health conditions
🔺Use electric fans if the temperature is below 35°C, but do not aim the fan directly at the body
🔺Go outside if it is cooler in the shade

Have your say 🗣️

We’re asking residents, businesses and community groups to share their views on new proposals setting out how parish and town council boundaries could look across Cheltenham.

This is the next step in the community governance review, which launched in 2025. Feedback from earlier stages has helped shape these proposals.

🗓️ The survey is open until 31 July 2026
📍 You can take part online or paper copies are available at locations across Cheltenham

We wanted to share a behind the scenes, early look at what’s coming 👀

We recently visited Newland Homes’ Cherringtons development to take an early look at the new homes for social rent and shared ownership.

As you’ll see, it’s still very much an active building site, so looks unfinished, but that won’t be the case for long.

We’ll be collecting the keys in the coming weeks for a mix of two and three-bedroom houses and two-bedroom bungalows, all designed with sustainability in mind🔑

⚠️ Anyone can become unwell when the weather is hot, but some are at higher risk than others

👍 Look out for older people, people with long-term health conditions and young
children who may find it more difficult to stay cool and hydrated in hot weather. Check in on older friends, family and neighbours, particularly those who live alone,
