The Government has today announced that it is “minded to” confirm one new council for Gloucestershire, following an initial review of previous local government reorganisation decisions. A new decision is expected before Christmas.

If confirmed:

📅 The new council would start operating in April 2029.

May 2027 elections will go ahead in Cotswold, Forest of Dean and Tewkesbury on existing boundaries.
