In this hot weather, please take care of yourself and others. Most of us can enjoy the hot weather safely, but please look out for those who are more vulnerable during the heatwave.

The main risks posed by a heatwave are:
• not drinking enough water (dehydration)
• overheating, which can make symptoms worse for people who already have problems with their heart or breathing
• heat exhaustion and heatstroke
• sunburn

A heatwave can affect anyone, but the most vulnerable people are older people (especially those over 75) and young children. Please think about:
• those who live on their own or in a care home
• people who have a serious or long term illness – including heart or lung conditions, diabetes, kidney disease, Parkinson's disease or some mental health conditions
• those who may find it hard to keep cool – babies and the very young, the bed bound, those with drug or alcohol addictions or with Alzheimer's disease
• people who spend a lot of time outside or in hot places – those who live in a top floor flat, the homeless or those whose jobs are outside

Stay safe. ❤️

Decisions about the future of Cwmbran should be shaped by the people who know it best.

As Volunteers' Week comes to a close, we're inviting local residents, volunteers and community representatives to take the next step and help shape the future of our communities.

Cwmbran Futures is looking for new members to join the Neighbourhood Board and ensure local voices are at the heart of decisions that will influence our area over the next 10 years.

Whether you're involved in a community group, support local activities, volunteer your time, or simply care about where you live, your experience and perspective matter.

You don't need previous board experience. We're looking for people who understand their communities, want to make a positive difference and are willing to bring their voice to the table.

As a Board member, you'll have the opportunity to:
✅ Represent your community
✅ Influence local priorities
✅ Help shape future investment
✅ Ensure local voices are heard

Together, we can create thriving places, stronger communities and a future shaped by the people of Cwmbran.

These include:
💜 feeling constantly bloated

We're here for you. If you do have any of these symptoms, it's unlikely to be cancer, but it's important to know when you should visit your GP if you're worried.
