CALL-OUT: On Sunday 23 August the team were called to assist Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team with the search for a missing person. Sadly the body of a male has been found.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

We can sadly confirm that 33-year-old Alex, from Cannock, has been found deceased.

Alex was reported missing on Saturday 22 August.

Specialist searches have been taking place using police search officers and volunteers from search and rescue teams, supported by detectives and officers working away from the scene.

Sadly, Alex was found yesterday (Friday 28 August) on Cannock Chase.

Officers attended alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

We are not treating his death as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

We’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with information as part of the efforts to try and find him, as well as those who shared the appeals for information.

We would like to send our condolences to the family during this difficult time and ask for sensitivity around this event during this grieving period.

CALLOUTS: Four in one day.

Sunday 9th August saw the team called to four separate incidents across Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

From injured walkers at Alstonefield and Hall Dale, to an injured climber at Wildcat Crag and an assist to Derbyshire Police at Linacre Reservoir, it was a busy day for our volunteers, with Buxton Mountain Rescue Team also assisting with the final rescue of the day.

CALLOUTS: A busy few days for the team.

Four very different callouts across three days have kept Derby Mountain Rescue Team volunteers busy this week.

Monday brought two incidents, with a search in Dovedale followed later that evening by a medical emergency at Black Rocks.

On Tuesday, the team was back in Dovedale assisting with the evacuation of an injured child, before being called again on Wednesday to assist Derbyshire Police near Matlock.

Odd jobs. There are a number of tasks that go on in the background to keep us operational. Today all three vehicles went for their MOTs at Alan’s Test Centre. A big thank you to the lovely staff at the centre for their support towards the team. We’re also happy to report all vehicles passed!
