CALLOUT: The team were called out by Derbyshire Police this week to assist with the search for a missing person. The team, along with Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England, searched areas near Matlock. The body of a woman believed to be that of the missing person was located by a search dog within our search areas.

Our thoughts are with the lady's family and friends at this difficult time.

It's Volunteers' Week, and we'd like to say thank you to everyone who helps make Derby Mountain Rescue Team possible.

Every member of Derby Mountain Rescue Team (both operational and supporter) plays a part in keeping the team ready to respond when needed, whether that's attending callouts, maintaining equipment, delivering training, fundraising or supporting our activities behind the scenes.

Mountain rescue is often seen on the hill, but it takes a much wider team to keep the vehicles on the road, training delivered, funds raised and our volunteers ready for the next callout.

One of the most valuable ways you can support the team is by organising a fundraiser. Whether it's a coffee morning, sponsored walk, bake sale, challenge event or something completely different, every pound raised helps us continue providing our service to those in need. Just as importantly, fundraisers help raise awareness of mountain rescue and the work our volunteers undertake every day.

CALLOUT: Thursday 28th May 2026 - Team members assisted partner agencies after a mountain biker suffered suspected spinal injuries in a collision with a tree near Oakamoor.

CALLOUT: A busy Monday evening in Dovedale saw the team respond to reports of a casualty who had fallen around six metres from rocks near the Stepping Stones, sustaining injuries to their back, arm and foot.

While the incident was ongoing, team members also carried out a search for a possible second emergency nearby following an automated phone alert, including use of the team drone.

Yesterday we attended the Spring Bank Scout and Guide Camp at Drum Hill, with an estimated attendance of around 1,500, with at least 900 being young people.

The weather was perfect and we had a constant stream of people visiting our display to have a go at the various activities, asking questions and engaging with the team.
