The journey will take Ian along some of the nation's most iconic coastlines and communities, travelling through England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales before returning to Cornwall on 15 October.

Along the way, Ian will visit veteran communities, care settings and custodial establishments, as well as taking part in fundraising and community engagement activities.

The challenge is a remarkable demonstration of endurance, commitment and support for the veterans and serving personnel who benefit from The Not Forgotten's work.

Whether you're a beneficiary, volunteer, supporter, veteran, friend or family member, we'd love you to join Ian on any of the route sections across the UK. The routes will be posted each week, just in case there need to be any late changes to the schedule.

We've been a bit quiet on social media over the past few weeks as the whole team has been out either delivering events or taking some hard-earned leave.

But now we're back! We'll be posting lots of content of all the events that have been going on in July and August...

๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธStarting with one special event from early August at Danny House in West Sussex - the spectacular 'Spitfire and Swing' event celebrating the 90th anniversary of the iconic Spitfire.

By kind permission of the estateโ€™s owner Richard Burrows, we brought some of the sights and sounds of the 1930s and 40s to the beautiful lawns of Danny House, along with a full-size concept model of a Spitfire, marking the 90 years since the iconic aeroplane made its first flight in 1936 ahead of its heroic service in World War Two.

๐Ÿ˜ŽThe weather was glorious as TNF beneficiaries, supporters and guests from across the local and regional community gathered together for an afternoon of live music from the UKโ€™s top swing band The Jive Aces, vintage 1940s duo The Swingtime Sweethearts, military vehicles and re-enactment displays and the chance to meet and chat to veterans including those who served in the Second World War.

๐ŸฅฏThe legendary Beigel Bar Brick Lane and Veteran Gin were there to keep everyone fed and watered, and of course the Spitfire itself was the guest of honour, with a full-size Aerolite Next Generation concept model of the aircraft brought along by Aerolite Spitfire and Great British Supermarine.

๐ŸŽ‰The event also raised money for The Not Forgotten, with an incredible ยฃ2,925 donated by guests and supporters.

LIVERPOOL STREET STATION COLLECTION - CAN YOU HELP?

We have been offered a station collection for The Not Forgotten to raise money next Wednesday, 12th August.

Would you be able to come along to Liverpool Street (Central London) to hold a bucket for a few hours or the whole day?

Volunteering for a station collection not only raises money for The Not Forgotten but is a fun, rewarding day out, introducing you to like-minded veterans, having a bit of a laugh and conversation, plus the satisfaction of 'giving back' to TNF.

If you can spare a few hours to volunteer please email [email protected] as soon as possible.

Can't make next week? We also have a station collection at London Paddington on 23rd September and would welcome volunteers for then too.

Thank you! ๐Ÿ™

It was all hands on deck earlier this month as The Not Forgotten joined 16 teams from across the maritime and defence sectors for the Reginald Fessenden Challenge, a sailing regatta organised by AVRO Yachting in association with Britannia Sailing Events.

The event is about bringing industry partners together through a combination of competitive sailing, networking, team building and an evening fundraising dinner. The added benefit is that this shared experience also generates significant support for charities that are close to the hearts of many involved, including The Not Forgotten and The Submarine Family.

We were delighted that two of our veteran beneficiaries joined crews aboard the Malin Group and SMI yachts, experiencing first hand the camaraderie, hospitality and sense of community that makes this event so special.

We are still awaiting the final fundraising total, but our sincere thanks go to Avro Yachting, Britannia Sailing Events, the sponsors, organisers and all participating teams for their generosity and support.

Richard Walker, Chief Executive of The Not Forgotten, said:

"The Reginald Fessenden Challenge is a fantastic example of industry coming together through shared experience, teamwork and friendly competition. The event creates valuable opportunities for organisations to strengthen relationships and networks in a setting that is both enjoyable, competitive and memorable.

The fact that it also raises substantial funds for charities is a powerful additional outcome. We are proud to be one of the charities benefiting from the annual event and particularly pleased to see veterans enjoying time on the water alongside such a welcoming and supportive community - thanks to SMI and Malin Group for hosting so well. Our sincere thanks go to AVRO Yachting, Britannia Sailing and everyone involved for making it possible."
