This morning, we were very excited to have Jen from Surrey Fire & Rescue Service back for another talk in the children's library. And what a busy and fun session it was!
Jen talked about what firefighters do, what equipment they use and how they kit themselves out to protect themselves from smoke and flames, and the things we all can and should do to keep ourselves and our homes safe from fire. Jen told interesting and surprising stories from real-life situations, including one about firefighters rescuing goldfish by carrying out the fish tank from a burning house. We had some excellent questions from a very attentive young audience. After the talk, they all had a chance to try on child-sized uniforms, and there were themed games and colouring in too.
