Have your say on the draft Sheffield City Centre Access and Movement Plan
Sheffield’s city centre is in an exciting period of transformation. As more people live, work, and shop in our city centre, the demand for space will increase. To shape how our city centre public spaces and streets should look and feel in the future, we are developing a City Centre Access and Movement Plan.
We want this plan to be bold and transformational. Our vision is for a cleaner, greener, thriving city centre, with more space for people. We’re already making changes to the city centre to support our ambitions through projects like the Connecting Sheffield: City Centre project, which began construction in February 2025 and links key developments like The Moor, Heart of the City and improvements on Fargate.
What’s the latest?
In December 2024 and January 2025, we started our city centre transport conversation.
We’ve taken what we heard from you throughout that conversation, through our survey, focus groups and events in the city centre, and we’ve put together a first draft of our plan. We’d now like to get your feedback before we finalise it.
You can read the report draft here and tell us what you think using our survey.

We’ll be back in the city centre over the summer for some more events too, so if you’d like to chat to us in person, you can come and see us in the following places:
• The Moor Market – Thursday 7th August, 10am to 3pm
• The Winter Garden – Wednesday 20 August, 10am to 3pm
• The Moor Market – Friday 5 September, 10am to 3pm
If you have any questions about the project, please email the team on [email protected]
Please share this message within your organisation and networks as we would like to hear from as many people as possible!
We're asking for your views on how you move around Sheffield's city centre streets, and how they should look and feel in the future.
