HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY GUYANA

On our 55th Independence Anniversary, may we as a people collectively take action to transform our country for the benefit of all Guyanese.

This significant day represents our freedom, strength, and resilience as a Country, and we should not let the labour of our past leaders be in vain. They were all strong men and women who fought for our independence, with one vision in mind i.e. a unified Guyana, in policy and practice.

To achieve their vision, it is my belief that Local and Central Government must work in unity to better our beloved country and its people. We all must play our part, whether it is by paying our taxes, maintaining our environment, or drafting new laws and policies to better equip our people for the future.

The Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown honours the 55th Independence Anniversary of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, by working tirelessly to beautify our City. As the Chief Citizen for City of Georgetown, I implore you to keep your environment clean. Let us work towards preventing health hazards and protect against a continuous rise in Covid-19 cases.

It is time to honour this significant day in our history, by working together to uphold our freedom and to value the sacrifices of our ancestors.

Have a happy and wonderful Independence, my people!

As a Guyanese in the Diaspora, contemplating thoughts of re-migration, I was disturbed by photos of our once beautiful architectural designed City Hall fallen to almost dilapidated and collapsible state in urgent need of renovations and repairs.. I think it is quite legal for the Council to set up a Fund to solicit charitable contributions from Citizens at home and in the Diaspora...I'm sure businesses in the Public/ Private sector ..like Lumber ..cement. .and Paint businesses to name a few, would gladly contribute of their products to my suggested Charitable Fund for the restoration of our beautiful City Hall. I would be happy if my suggestion would be conveyed to our hands-on, progressive Hon. Mayor of Georgetown, Pandit Ubraj Narine..Lets make Georgetown Great again..
Can someone please assist me with an issue I am having with Larlyn Condo Corporation. I just moved into Georgetown on Sept 18th, and I have not heard anything from them in terms of a welcome kit and sign up forms. They are now saying I owe them over $2000 for late payment which I find absurd since their fees are $90 per month. I have had to track down who to actually call since I have received no correspondence from them. This seems to be the norm as I have found other people facing similar issues. With COVID happening I could understand things could be delayed but I am now having a lean against my home and they are not willing to even talk to me. All I get is a runaround. This does not seem to be an isolated case. Why do we have Condo Corps here in Georgetown that treats their clients in this horrible manner. Something must be able to be done.

It's a Shame that M&CC Pensioners haven't been paid for the month of June 2020 & it's already half of July.
Greetings, Today I am requesting for the relevant departments within the M&CC of Georgetown or any sympathetic and enviromentally friendly organisation ,government ministry to pay attention to the eastern half of Durey Lane ,between Sherrif and Stone Avenue which has become a garbage dump site again. This unhygenic ,environmentally unsafe situation exists in very close proximity to the New Campbellville Scondary School ,St Teresa RC Church and C/ ville Health Centre,C/ Ville Fire Station. This stretch of road is used by all to access the community. The church has tried colaborated efforts with stakeholders to free this area from this scourge but only for a brief time before dumping continues by uncaring citizens! It is time for the implementation of solutions, corrective actions which will bear long term ,suitable and effective results to rid this area of the dispecable practice of dumping .It is very important to make this space hygenic especially now as Guyana grapples with the public health delima of illness and death due to COVID-19 pandemic! I INVITE YOU TO MAKE A VISIT TO THIS AREA AND ONCE AGAIN LETS CLEAN IT UP IF YOU CARE!
When will stabroek market reopening
Could the City Council tell the residents of Princess why the Cleansing Department has become another Haag Bosh? Why has the grounds become a dumping site for rubbish ? Is someone being paid to accept garbage that should end up in Eccles? Would this happen in a gated community? Our health is at stake. Do we have to picket to stop this serious health risk?
https://www.stabroeknews.com/2020/02/08/opinion/letters/elders-of-queenstown-bel-air-park-in-fear-of-february-23/ Who will protect our elders from the horrors to come? I challenge the Georgetown Mayor and City Council, the Ministry of Public Health - Guyana, The Ministry of Public Security- Guyana, and the Guyana Ministry of Social Protection to show Love and compassion for these elders who have had to face this seven year long nightmare. Thank you. Light and Love. ✨💛
