Labour Intercultural is a section of the Labour Party

Labour Equality is a section of the Irish Labour Party governed by a National Executive, which is elected at the Annual Conference, with representatives also nominated by party sections.

We in Labour Intercultural sees Israel’s aid and food blockades as a flagrant move to stop essential aid reaching a population on the verge of a catastrophic famine. We are calling for a lifting of the blockade and humanitarian aid to be allowed to flow to save lives and to prevent a humanitarian disaster. The Irish government needs to call on the EU for emergency funding action to be taken and the opening of blockades to prevent this famine from occurring.

This conundrum is happening while Ireland has recently blocked entry to Palestinian students entering Ireland to study, while at the same time Israelis including active members of the Israeli Defence Force members have visa free entry for up to 90 days unrestricted.

We are calling for a screening process to be implemented on members of persons who have been on active duty during this genocide as a matter of upholding humanitarian law and national security.

We are calling for the people of Ireland to show full support and solidarity for the Palestinians at this time and to keep pressure on our government to push the EU to act to save lives and uphold international law by holding those responsible to account. Three years on from the start of the genocide, we are here still, standing, supporting and campaigning for the Palestinians. It is not just the people of Palestine. We are standing for, but humanity itself. We need to keep calling out Israel further acts against the Palestinian people and block them from normalising genocide on all fronts whether it’s sport, art or everyday life, no matter what country across the world we need to keep pressure on Israel. We were in attendance last night for the stop the game campaign in liberty hall.

Some brilliant views put forward on why we as a nation we should not entertain the sports washing of a genocide.

We need to stop the game.
It has been done in the past.
We have boycotted the Eurovision Song Contest.
What’s stopping our government or the FAI from calling a halt to the games that allow our players play against members of the Israeli Defence Forces, a force killing thousands of innocent civilians and who are implementing a genocide.

Labour, cultural welcomes, the fact that we are now not attending Eurovision next year, that we see Irish artists, defending the upholding of human rights by siding with a man who was kicked from a tour for saying free Palestine. Still, see the FAI pandering and sports, washing a genocidal regime Israel. We are calling for you to keep calling for the game to be stopped on the 27th of September between Ireland and Israel. Also, I have correspondence from the minister of Justice that the letter regarding the screening of Israeli defence force members entering Ireland is receiving attention, we will keep pressing the issue. Eventful few weeks we have had. With the banning of sale of Israeli war bonds in the EU.
A huge gathering for the stop the game campaign.
Multiple countries banning trade in goods with Israeli settlements.
And now we have the arrival of a fascist on our shore who is a genocidal enabler and the cause of so much destruction and misery across the world.

We in Labour were proud to stand with the “Stop The Game” campaign today in Dublin. We can’t have our government normalising a genocide by entertaining sports with a country committing such atrocities while the world watches on.
