The deep depression (remnant of severe cyclonic storm “DANA”) over north costal Odisha moved westwards with a speed of 7 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred near latitude 21.4°N and longitude 86.2°E at 1730 hrs IST of today, the 25th October over north Odisha about 50 km northwest of Bhadrak and 70 km east-southeast of Keonjhar.
It is likely to move nearly westwards across north Odisha and weaken gradually into a depression during next 12 hours.
The system is under continuous surveillance of the doppler weather radar at Paradip.

(i) The Severe cyclonic storm “Dana” (pronounced as Dana) crossed north Odisha coast close to Habalikhati Nature Camp (Bhitarkanika) and Dhamara during 0130 hrs IST to 0330 hrs IST of today, 25th October as a Severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph.
(ii) Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over coastal Odisha, south Gangetic West Bengal (east & west Medinipur) on 25th October, 2024.

Under the influence of Cyclonic Storm Dana, Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places over Odisha and Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal.

The cyclonic storm “DANA” moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 07 kmph and lay centred near latitude 21.4° N and longitude 86.6°E at 1130 hrs IST of today, the 25th October, over north coastal Odisha, about 40 km north-northeast of Bhadrak and 70 km north-northwest of Dhamara. It is likely to move nearly westwards across north Odisha and weaken gradually into a deep depression during next 06 hours.
