Colombia announced the change of its position on the Sahara issue and affirmed its recognition of the Kingdom of Morocco's sovereignty over its Southern Provinces.

This new position was announced on Friday during the meeting held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, and the Vice-President of the Republic of Colombia, José Manuel Restrepo, attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Omar Bula Escobar.

On this occasion, Bula Escobar affirmed that Colombia "recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara," enshrining a new orientation for Colombia’s position on this issue.

For his part, Restrepo underlined that this announcement marks "a new beginning" for ties between Colombia and Morocco, adding that the Kingdom is "Colombia’s first ally in Africa."

In this respect, he expressed his country’s determination to establish a strategic partnership with Morocco.

Meanwhile, Bourita described Colombia's decision to withdraw its recognition of the pseudo 'sadr' and recognize Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara as "historic," stressing that it could give "great momentum" to bilateral ties.

He pointed out that Morocco and Colombia could represent economic platforms for each other by taking advantage of their respective positions in Africa and in Latin America.

Bourita affirmed that his presence in Cali, on the Very High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to represent the Sovereign in the investiture ceremony of new President Abelardo de la Espriella, embodies the Kingdom's determination to support this new momentum and elevate relations between Morocco and Colombia to a higher level.

Tetouan-- HM the King Delivers Speech to the Nation on Throne Day (Full Text)

Tetouan - His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, addressed a Speech to His Faithful people on Wednesday evening on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Sovereign’s accession to the Throne of His Glorious Ancestors.

Here follows the full text of the Royal Speech:

"Dear Citizens,

It is with immense pride and great satisfaction that we celebrate the twenty-seventh anniversary of my accession to the throne.

Twenty-seven years have passed since Almighty God entrusted me with the mission of leading the nation. It is a momentous, sacred mission and a weighty responsibility.

I praise and thank the Almighty for the success and guidance He has bestowed upon me as I sought to fulfill your aspirations and respond to your concerns; Almighty God said: "If you are grateful, I will add (more favors) unto you".

I have never sought personal glory, or recognition of a leading role at the continental or international level. All that has ever mattered to me is to fulfil my duty and serve you, and to enable all Moroccans to live a free, dignified life.

Today, looking back at what we have accomplished together, I feel a mixture of pride in our achievements, and optimism for the future.

This is not so much a note of self-satisfaction as it is a positive feeling rooted in confidence and peacefulness - a feeling that gives me the strength and motivation to press ahead with my efforts.

None of our achievements was a matter of chance. Our accomplishments were all the result of clear strategic direction and of a mode of governance based on entrepreneurship, meticulous follow-up, constructive self-criticism, and positive, resolute policies turned to the future.

Dear Citizens,

This is a pivotal moment in our nation's development; a time when confidence and optimism should prevail over despair and frustration.

What gives us the greatest sense of pride and satisfaction is the security and stability enjoyed by Morocco, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of state institutions.

In a regional and international environment with no shortage of fluctuations and upheavals, political and institutional stability is a rare, priceless commodity.

Today, stability is the key element in the development equation; it is the strategic asset we cherish in Morocco.

Dear Citizens,

A country with a long history, Morocco derives its strength from its deep-rooted traditions as a nation-state - one in which institutions play their role in an environment characterized by harmony and integration.

This is what gives the state the necessary resolve to carry out its work, build upon achievements, and rise to challenges, regardless of the difficulties and constraints.

Morocco has demonstrated this through the excellent organization of continental and international events – a fact that earned our country the respect and admiration of the world, and, at times, aroused the envy of some.

The Kingdom has also demonstrated a considerable capacity to deal with disasters and crises, particularly through the proactive measures taken, for instance, to address the floods that affected the western and northern regions of our country.

Thanks to security, stability, and institutional efficiency, positive indicators are on the rise across sectors, thus boosting economic growth and reinforcing national sovereignty.

Our growth rate stood at approximately 4.9% in 2025 and is expected to be roughly the same or higher in 2026.

As regards agriculture, Morocco experienced significant rainfall and a good agricultural season, which contributed to strengthening water and food security.

Our country has also been able to strengthen its position as a hub for industrial, tourism, and financial investment, as shown by the evolution of the indicators concerned, particularly in industry.

Today, the automotive, aviation, renewable energy, and food processing sectors are fundamental pillars of the national production fabric, be it in terms of attracting foreign investment, or the creation of wealth and job opportunities.

The Kingdom has become the leading exporter of cars in Africa, with a production capacity of nearly one million cars a year.

As a result, Moroccan exports from the automotive and aviation sectors have exceeded 40% of our total exports, ahead of phosphates.

To strengthen this trend, I presided over the launch ceremony of new factories early this year. This has enabled Morocco to join the exclusive circle of countries possessing the largest industrial centers in the field of aircraft engine and landing gear manufacturing.

Furthermore, the development of an integrated electric battery sector reflects Morocco's ability to anticipate technological transformations and integrate into the production chains of strategic industries.

Building on the same spirit of innovation and creativity, major projects are now being implemented with a view to making renewable energy a pillar of our energy security, as well as a catalyst for attracting industries banking on the use of competitive, carbon-free energy.

To bolster this ambitious strategy, the "Morocco Offer” project for green hydrogen was launched through the licensing of an initial group of major projects.

Dear Citizens,

In an international environment marked by a resurgence of protectionist policies and the need to secure supply and production chains, I have made the consolidation of national sovereignty and strategic self-sufficiency a cornerstone of our industrial development.

A prime example of this are the food and pharmaceutical industries, which now cover approximately 80% of our national needs.

Furthermore, establishing an industrial and technological base in the areas of defense and cybersecurity will gradually contribute to strengthening defense sovereignty, creating development opportunities, and consolidating our country's position as a regional power in these industries.

For its part, the tourism sector achieved a historic milestone in 2025, with nearly 20 million tourist arrivals, including members of the diaspora.

In addition to economic development efforts, numerous initiatives and human development programs have been carried out, in addition to measures to ensure universal social protection with a view to improving the living conditions of Moroccans and achieving social and spatial justice.

In this regard, I wish to emphasize the need for the effective implementation of integrated local development programs. I will continue to make sure these programs cover all regions, without exception.

The process of economic and social transformation requires unprecedented financial resources, the bulk of which must be raised through domestic financing.

I therefore urge our financial sector to press ahead with its efforts to keep pace with investment and major projects, and to achieve a qualitative shift in expanding access to bank and non-bank financing for small and medium enterprises, as well as for the promotion of innovation, manufacturing and exports.

I look forward to seeing the financial sector focus on opening up broader, more innovative prospects to ensure optimal mobilization of national savings - particularly at institutional level - and to boost financial markets so as to accelerate the development dynamic in an emerging Morocco.

Dear Citizens,

With Almighty God's help, I have managed to consolidate Morocco's position as a reliable, respected, and influential player on the global stage.

Today, Morocco is an important economic player and a sought-after partner in new, balanced, forward-looking partnerships.

This has enabled our country to deal effectively and confidently with all its partners, and to propose constructive partnerships and promising cooperation initiatives on key bilateral and international issues.

Morocco has also chosen to diversify its partnerships, building on a keen sense of commitment and responsibility, thereby contributing to strengthening our country's capabilities and enhancing its standing in various fields.

Dear Citizens,

The economic and social gains achieved transcend governmental and parliamentary timeframes. They are the result of years of positive developments and policies, thanks to strategic planning and the pertinence of the major choices made by our country.

Following the upcoming legislative elections and the formation of a new government, I will be looking forward to launching a new cycle in our country’s development process, the aim being to consolidate the gains made and continue to implement major projects and reforms.

Dear Citizens,

I should like to take the opportunity of the glorious Throne Day celebrations to reiterate my pride in, and appreciation for, all components of our Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the local government authorities, the National Security Forces, the Auxiliary Forces and the Emergency Services for being constantly mobilized, under my leadership, to defend our nation’s unity, security and stability.

I also remember with reverence the pure souls of Morocco's righteous martyrs, foremost among them my revered grandfather and father, Their Majesties the late King Mohammed V and the late King Hassan II - may they rest in peace.

Almighty God says: “Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good”. True is the Word of God.

Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh."
