AVE MARIA GIRLS’ PRIMARY SCHOOL
GRADE 6 VISIT TO THE HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT
On Monday, 29 September 2026, our Grade 6 girls had the wonderful opportunity to visit the House of Parliament as part of their studies on Governance.
The students were warmly hosted by the Speaker of the House of Parliament, the Honourable Claudius Francis, who provided an engaging and informative session on the workings of government and Parliament. He explained how governments are formed, parliamentary procedures, and the important role and responsibilities of the Speaker.
The girls also learned about the various arms of government and the role each plays in the development of policies, the creation of legislation, and decision-making in the country.
The visit was highly interactive. Our students enthusiastically posed questions and were given the opportunity to role-play various Ministers of Government, as well as members of the Opposition. This hands-on experience helped to bring their classroom learning to life and gave them a greater appreciation of the principles and processes of governance.
The Principal, Grade 6 teachers, and students of Ave Maria Girls’ Primary School extend heartfelt thanks to the Honourable Speaker, Claudius Francis, for being such a gracious and wonderful host. His time, knowledge, and willingness to engage with our students made the experience both meaningful and memorable.
We are grateful for opportunities such as these that encourage our girls to become informed, confident, responsible, and active citizens.
Excellence in Every Task, Greatness in Every Girl and Everyone!
