ROADS DIRECTORATE HOSTS INTER-ROADS CLOSING GALA

The spirit of collaboration extended well beyond the sports grounds last night, as the Roads Directorate hosted a closing gala dinner to honor visiting delegates from our sister road agencies from Botswana and Eswatini.

We were deeply honored to have the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Honourable Matjato Moteane, as our guest of honour for the evening.

His presence underscored a shared commitment to regional partnership and cross-border knowledge exchange.

The conclusion of the 2026 Inter-Roads Study Tour and Games marks another major step forward in strengthening long-term cooperation among our three agencies, all driving toward improved public infrastructure networks across the SADC region.

BOLESWA ROADS AGENCIES COLLABORATE THROUGH SPORTS

As part of the Inter-Roads Study Tour and Games, staff from the three BOLESWA roads agencies started the day with an early morning marathon, followed by various sports and team-building activities on Saturday morning.

Each team performed with enthusiasm, creating meaningful opportunities for teamwork and collaboration.

Their energy strengthened team spirit, improved communication and reinforced a shared sense of purpose.

From the marathon to the laughter shared during team-building activities, the day demonstrated that although the agencies operate as three separate entities, they can come together as one to promote regional connectivity through sport, learning and collaboration.

RD HOSTS INTER-ROADS STUDY TOUR AND GAMES

The Roads Directorate is hosting counterparts from the Eswatini Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Botswana’s Ministry of Transport and Public Works for a three-day Inter-Roads Study Tour and Games.

Earlier today, civil engineers from the 3 institutions gathered at the Roads Directorate Headquarters for a brainstorming session.

The session sparked a valuable discussion on the challenges facing Lesotho’s roads and the practical solutions needed for the future, with Takatso Matsoetlane, Project Engineer (Construction Contracts), presenting on Climate Resilience in Road Infrastructure: The Lesotho Context.

It became evident that these challenges are not unique to Lesotho but are prevalent across the region. The discussions further underscored the need for the three road agencies to reconsider their operational approaches and to strengthen collaboration to develop more resilient road networks.
