Second Secretary Tristan O'Brien was pleased to attend the Contact Group on Illicit Maritime Activities (CGIMA) meeting organised by the Commission de l'océan Indien - Indian Ocean Commission in 🇲🇺Mauritius, joining partners from across the region to discuss emerging maritime challenges and opportunities for cooperation.

It was also an excellent opportunity to reconnect with maritime partners from 🇲🇺Mauritius, 🇸🇨Seychelles, 🇰🇲Comoros and 🇲🇬Madagascar working on maritime security issues. As a Friend of the Chair of CGIMA, 🇦🇺Australia remains committed to working collaboratively with partners to support a safe, stable and prosperous Indian Ocean.

Le Direct Aid Program (DAP) en action aux Comores 🇦🇺🇰🇲

À travers le Direct Aid Program (DAP), l’Australie travaille avec des partenaires locaux pour soutenir des projets concrets qui répondent à des défis de développement. Parmi eux figure notre projet avec UNFPA aux Comores, mis en œuvre en partenariat avec l’association IMARA Comoros.

Cette initiative a contribué à améliorer l’accès des femmes et des jeunes filles à des solutions d’hygiène menstruelle réutilisables et respectueuses de l’environnement, tout en renforçant la sensibilisation à la santé menstruelle et aux défis liés au changement climatique.

Une initiative qui favorise à la fois la santé, l’autonomisation des femmes et la durabilité environnementale.

People-to-people links are the bedrock of the Australia-Mauritius relationship. Acting High Commissioner, Kate Varian was delighted to meet Mauritius’ newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner to Australia, Raj Sookun who will soon take up his posting at the Mauritius High Commission in Canberra.
While Australia is home to the second largest Mauritian diaspora in the world, Mauritius also benefits from a vibrant community of Australian alumni who are making important contributions across government, business, academia, civil society and diplomacy. As an Australia Awards alumna, the new Deputy High Commissioner is a wonderful example of the enduring connections fostered through education and exchange between our two countries.
We look forward to working closely with him and the Mauritian High Commissioner to Australia to further strengthen the longstanding friendship between Australia and Mauritius. 🇦🇺🇲🇺

This , we're celebrating the Seychellois diaspora in Australia.

During her visit to Seychelles for the 50th anniversary of Independence, High Commissioner Kate Chamley had the pleasure of meeting Michael Arnephie, an accomplished artist with strong ties to both Seychelles and Australia.

They explored the inspirations behind his work, his creative journey, and what it means to navigate life between two homes while maintaining deep connections to both countries.
