The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) was pleased to host the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Accounting and Auditing Working Group (AAWG) in Windhoek on 16โ17 September 2026.
The IAIS is the global standard-setting body responsible for developing principles, standards and guidance for the supervision of the insurance sector.
The AAWG serves as the IAISโ specialist forum on insurance accounting, auditing, valuation, financial reporting and disclosure matters. The Working Group supports the development of internationally recognised supervisory principles, standards and guidance relating to the accounting and auditing of insurers, valuation for solvency purposes, supervisory reporting, audit assurance and public disclosure.
The meeting provided an important platform for engagement on emerging international developments affecting the insurance sector, including evolving practices in financial reporting, valuation, auditing and insurer disclosures.
Hosting the AAWG in Namibia reflects the growing role of African supervisors in shaping global insurance supervisory discussions and provides an important opportunity for knowledge-sharing and engagement on developments relevant to the insurance sector.
Through platforms such as these, NAMFISA continues to contribute to discussions that support effective insurance supervision and the development of a sound and resilient financial sector.
