WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL – TERM 2

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We trust that you and your children enjoyed a restful and enjoyable holiday. On behalf of the management and staff, we would like to extend a warm welcome back to all our learners as we begin an exciting new term.

After a month-long break, our learners have returned refreshed, motivated, and ready to embrace new learning opportunities. We are looking forward to a productive and successful term filled with academic growth, personal development, and memorable experiences.

This term promises to be particularly exciting as we have a variety of extra-curricular activities planned to enrich our learners' educational journey. These activities will provide opportunities for learners to develop their talents, build confidence, strengthen teamwork skills, and foster a well-rounded school experience.

We encourage all learners to participate actively, remain committed to their studies, and uphold the values of respect, responsibility, and excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Parents and guardians play a vital role in their children's success. We thank you for your continued support and partnership and look forward to working together to ensure a rewarding and successful term for every learner.

We wish all our learners a fantastic term ahead and look forward to celebrating their achievements along the way.
Welcome back, and let's make this term a great success!

Kind regards,
School Management & Staff

Team Building 29 May 2026

Michelle McLean Primary School staff had the privilege of participating in an enriching and motivational team-building session facilitated by lecturers from the University of Namibia (UNAM) in preparation for the Second Trimester.

The session commenced with an inspiring presentation on Impact and Purpose (The Why Behind the Work) by Dr. Renate Olga Shikwaya, who encouraged staff members to reflect on their purpose as educators and the lasting impact they have on learners' lives. She emphasized that teaching is more than a profession—it is an opportunity to leave a legacy of transformation and positive change.

The second presentation focused on The Foundation of a Positive Mindset and was facilitated by Dr. Lusia Ndahafa Ngatolekwa and Ms. Serena Hoeses. They highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, resilience, and a growth mindset in the workplace, enabling educators to overcome challenges and remain focused on achieving excellence.

Staff members also benefited from a session on Mental and Emotional Mastery, presented by Dr. Aune San, who shared valuable strategies for managing emotions, reducing stress, and promoting overall well-being. The session reinforced the importance of emotional intelligence in fostering healthy relationships among colleagues and learners.

The final presentation on Core Teamwork Skills was delivered by Dr. Kashinaua Faustina Neshila. The session focused on strengthening collaboration, communication, trust, and mutual support among staff members. Participants were encouraged to work collectively towards a common goal and to embrace teamwork as a key driver of learner success.

The workshop successfully motivated and equipped staff members with practical skills and renewed enthusiasm as they prepare for the Second Trimester. Teachers left the session feeling inspired, energized, and committed to working together as one team for the benefit of all learners.

Michelle McLean Primary School extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the UNAM lecturers and facilitators for sharing their knowledge, expertise, and encouragement. Your presentations have strengthened our team spirit and renewed our commitment to providing quality education and support to our learners.

A special word of appreciation is also extended to the school management for organizing this valuable initiative. By investing in staff development and well-being, management continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a united, motivated, and purpose-driven team that is ready to make a positive impact throughout the Second Trimester.

Dear Parents/Guardians

There has been an increase of reports and concerns of hand, foot and mouth disease outbreaks in Windhoek.

Symptoms include fever, fatigue, sore throat, reduced appetite, mouth sores and a rash/ small blisters on the hands, bottom or feet.(sometimes on the knees too)
If your child is unwell or shows any of these symptoms, please keep them home until the symptoms pass completely.
Unfortunately the coxsackievirus A16 or enterovirus 71 that causes HFMD is highly contagious and we would like to prevent an outbreak in our school 🙏.

Dear Parents/Guardians

We kindly inform you that the Ministry of Health and Social Services will be conducting an Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign at our school tomorrow as part of a national effort to protect children under the age of 10 against polio.
This campaign (Round 3: 27–30 April 2026) aims to prevent and control the spread of polio in Namibia. The vaccination will be administered at school to ensure that all eligible learners are reached in a safe and convenient manner.
We therefore urge all parents to prioritise the health and well-being of their children by ensuring that all learners attend school tomorrow.
Your cooperation is highly appreciated as we work together to safeguard the health of our children and community.
