Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal received H. E. Mr Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, for a farewell call at the Ministry this afternoon.

On the occasion, Hon. Minister Khanal congratulated Ambassador Srivastava on the successful completion of his tenure while appreciating his efforts to further deepening multifaceted ties of Nepal-India relations. He highlighted major milestones in energy cooperation, trade, and infrastructure connectivity as well as people-to-people relations.

Hon. Foreign Minister further expressed his deep gratitude for the solidarity and swift disaster relief support to Nepal in the aftermath of the disastrous floods in Bhote Koshi River.
Hon. Foreign Minister also extended his best wishes to the Ambassador for his future endeavours and expressed confidence that he will continue to remain a good friend of Nepal.

H. E. Mr Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, paid a farewell call on Foreign Secretary Mr Amrit Bahadur Rai, at the Ministry today.

On the occasion, the Foreign Secretary appreciated the contribution of the Ambassador in further strengthening Nepal-India relations and acknowledged his active role in achieving significant progress in the areas of energy, cross border infrastructure and people to people relations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal, in collaboration with the Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal (FEEN), organised a virtual interaction programme with the heads of Nepali Missions in the Americas today on “Opportunities and Challenges of Nepal’s Exports to the USA, Canada and Brazil.”

Addressing the programme, Foreign Secretary Mr Amrit Bahadur Rai underscored the need to strengthen economic diplomacy and promote Nepal’s exports. He directed the Heads of Missions to implement their programmes and activities in line with the Ministry’s Annual Action Plan and submit progress reports to the Ministry on a regular basis.

Senior Vice President of FEEN, Mr Dev Ananda Sarawagi, made a comprehensive presentation on “Opportunities and Challenges of Nepal’s Exports to the US, Canada and Brazil.” Heads of Missions and export entrepreneurs actively participated in the interaction.

Senior officials of the Ministry, a representative of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, FEEN Board Members and Heads and officials of Nepali Missions in the region were present.

The Ministry organised a programme to bid farewell to Mr Bhrigu Dhungana, Joint Secretary at the Ministry.

On the occasion, Joint Secretary Mr Dhungana shared his experience and insights working in various capacities at the Ministry and missions, including Nepal’s Ambassador to Canada.

Hon Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal and Foreign Secretary Mr Amrit Bahadur Rai appreciated contributions of Mr Dhungana to the nation and wished him a healthy and pleasant retired life.

Mr Dhungana joined the diplomatic service in 2052 BS and retired from the service today.

The newly arrived Chargé d’Affaires of US Embassy, Kathmandu, Ms Megan Bouldin paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal at Singhadurbar today.

During the call on, Ms Bouldin conveyed her deepest sympathies to the flood victims and expressed solidarity of the US government to the government and people of Nepal. She also expressed readiness of the US government to support and assist Nepal in relief, recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Hon. Foreign Minister conveyed his deep gratitude to the government and people of the United States for the solidarity and support extended to Nepal during this difficult time. Hon Minister expressed his confidence that the US government's assistance to Nepal will continue throughout the rehabilitation and reconstruction phases.
