Our heartfelt condolences go to Malcolm’s wife Janice and family.

Before stepping down earlier this year, Malcolm served on the Franklin Local Board for 12 years, representing the communities of Whitford, Beachlands, Maraetai, Clevedon, Brookby, Alfriston, Ardmore, Kawakawa Bay, Ōrere Point, Hūnua, Paparimu, Ararimu, Ramarama, Drury South and Bombay.

The council and local board pay tribute to former Franklin Local Board member, Malcolm Bell.

📢Heads up Beachlands! The Beachlands Memorial Hall will close from 25 October 2026 as it enters its final stage of its transformation into Beachlands Library and Community Hub.

🏗These upgrades will create a safer, more accessible space that’s better equipped to support a wider range of activities, programmes and services for the community. And there’s more to look forward to – when the hub reopens in 2027, it will also be home to library services for the first time! We'll keep you updated on timings as soon as we can.

In the meantime:
📚The Beachlands community-led library will continue operating from Second View Avenue during this time
🚌The mobile library will continue its service until late December 2026
