Here's an example of why it is important to share your concerns or point to issues that need attention at our Public Forum, which is held at the start of every monthly Community Board meeting.

➡ Members of the community raised concerns about monitoring of consents at our public forum - specific examples were provided.
➡ The issue was elevated to Council following our meeting, with members seeking regular updates on progress to review and resolve the issues highlighted.
➡ Yesterday at a Long Term Plan workshop, elected members discussed the issue again, and considered costs for additional resourcing for monitoring and enforcement, with all indicating their support for more focus and resource in this year.

Sharing from NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi for information:

From Monday 17 August (weather dependent) to mid-September the northbound on‑ramp at the Northern Interchange (Cambridge West/Velodrome), will be closed. Crews are working across both northbound lanes for the 5km section between the Cambridge West on-ramp and south of the Tamahere Interchange. All Cambridge traffic wanting to head north on SH1, will need to use the Victoria Road Interchange at Hautapu but please consider all alternative routes available to ease traffic congestion.

What to expect:

Delays and traffic congestion during this work.

The Tamahere Interchange is not part of this work, but expect delays of up to 20 minutes at peak travel times because of the volume of SH1 traffic merging into one lane in each direction.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys, and consider alternative routes to help ease traffic congestion.

It’s only August, but we are already looking at how we can beautify and activate the town this year over December. A very good meeting was held with the Chamber and retailers this morning, and we are looking forward to progressing our list of ideas. Thanks for facilitating this, Kelly.

It was a crisp start to the morning, but warm and cosy at The Clements Hotel, where the Cambridge Business Chamber, Cambridge Community Board and a group of passionate local retailers opened the conversation about Christmas in Cambridge! 🎄

There was plenty of enthusiasm, creativity and festive spirit around the table as we began exploring how we can bring our town to life this Christmas.

If you've been wondering where the horses went on the corner of Lamb Street and Roto-O-Rangi Road, the paddocks are being converted into a new green space for everyone to enjoy. No playgrounds, hard landscaping or significant infrastructure - just a place people can walk through, with grassed areas and informal paths connecting to the wider neighbourhood. Watch this space.

It’s a beautiful morning in Cambridge as we celebrate Matariki.

Today we reflect on those who have gone before us, celebrate where we are today, and look ahead with hope for the future.

Matariki is also a time to reconnect: with family and whānau, friends, our community, and the place we call home. And on mornings like this, it’s easy to feel grateful for the stunning corner of NZ we’re lucky enough to share.

We wish you a warm and meaningful Matariki.

Great discussion and questions today. There is so much going on right now, it can feel a little overwhelming. But if there’s only one thing you pay attention to this week, it’s reform. Feedback so far is very mixed, and we don’t have a lot of time to get all the information we need to make a decision, but it is important to have your say so the Council can understand the views and sentiment across the district.

The new Te Awa Rise bridge is now open, creating a safer, more direct connection from Te Awa Rise to Cambridge Park and into town.

It’s worth venturing over to Te Awa Rise when you have an opportunity to check out the new bridge, reserve, and playground. Although the new pedestrian bridge is not quite the third bridge many are hoping and waiting for, it is another fantastic piece of engineering that will improve connectivity in our community.
