Last term, Kakapo was our winning house. Their treat today was to get out some of the PE gear we don’t use very often and have a fun half hour of exercise, mixing with students from right across the school and bonding as a group. Well done Kakapo house. Who will win this term… ?

Today and tomorrow classes are visiting the book fair and filling in wish lists to bring home. The fair opens to parents for purchasing from this afternoon onwards. If you can’t get in to school but would like to purchase, you can fill in credit card details on the back of the wish lists or information sheets which are shown in the photos in this post.

Congratulations to our 4 Waihopai students who competed at the Southland Aerobics Regionals this last weekend, representing our school. They competed in very large sections and really impressed everyone with their polished performances. Matilda placed second in a class of 20 in the Novice Pre Choreographed Year 5/6 section. She also placed 1st with her team in the Under 14 Fitness teams section. Marlee placed third in another large class in the Novice Year 3/4 section. It was also great to see many ex-Waihopai students receiving placings in the more senior classes. Well done everyone.

So it may seem early to be asking for White Elephant Stall items, but we know lots of room clean ups happen in the holidays. If your children are sorting out their bedrooms, please put aside any items we could sell at the White Elephant table at our Year 6 Bits and Bobs market day in Term 3. We are looking for good quality, pre loved games, puzzles, books and toys. No clothes please. If you have any goodies for us, please have your child take them to Room 6 and collect some assembly tickets as a thank-you.

Congratulations to all of our Year 5 and 6 students who presented their speeches at the school final this afternoon. We loved the wide range of topics, the entertaining way you presented them and the confidence and resilience you showed in front of such a big audience. Congratulations to Rubi 1st, Felicity 2nd, Amahnia 3rd, Sam 4th and Mac and Matilda Highly Commendeds. Thank you to the whanau who came out in support of their children. It was lovely to have you join us.
