Sadly, Thursday will be Mrs Woods final day at Waihopai School. She has been part of our Waihopai family for 31 years and has run the library and our technology support with great skill and efficiency. She will be sorely missed by students, parents and staff alike. We wish her all the best for the future.

Congratulations to our amazing choir. You were stunning last night especially with the way you held your high harmonies and the joy you showed on your faces in our individual item. We have had so many comments about it. Waihopai dancers you were just beautiful to watch. We are so proud of you all.

After a great technical rehearsal at the Civic Theatre yesterday, we are all ready for our dress rehearsal this morning and our performance tonight. The committee would love to see more tickets sold so please encourage friends and extended family to come along for a great show.

It is going to be wet. Remember the theatre doors do not get unlocked until 6.30pm and no parents will be allowed inside. The children will go in, up the stairs to the top storey to our changing room by themselves. Mrs Compton and Mrs Bell will meet them there. At the end of the night, children will meet parents to the side of the building (NOT the back door to avoid the chaos of previous years). Please bring an umbrella and be patient as we tick each child off. Children are not allowed to go and meet their parents somewhere else. We know you will appreciate that we are trying to keep your children safe.

Please ensure children are wearing their polo tops (no sports tops please).

We hope you all enjoy the show - our choir of 56 has worked very hard all term and we can’t wait to show you our mahi.

Group photos from the Southland Gymnastics festival today. The children had a fabulous afternoon showing the judges and their whanau all of the hard mahi that had been put in through Term 3. After floors, mats, beams, vaults and group dances were marked, all 4 Waihopai teams were awarded ‘Elite’ gradings, the highest score available. Well done to this hard working group. Wow - what an amazing privilege it was to listen to the Junior Syndicate poetry presentations this afternoon. Representatives from each junior class recited their chosen poem to their teachers, classmates and whanau. The group blew us all away with their confidence, their clear speaking and their ability to remember their words. They were super entertaining and simply enchanting. Congratulations to you all.

Congratulations to Amahnia who won an award at the Southland Literacy Association prize-giving at the Invercargill City Library yesterday afternoon. She wrote a wonderful story using the photo prompt that was sent out to schools. We are very proud of you Amahnia.
