WOODEND PEGASUS AREA STRATEGY REVIEW ⬇️

Great to be invited to take part in the Woodend Pegasus Area Strategy Review this morning.

I, along with other representatives of local stakeholders, had the chance to provide feedback and help update the strategy, which was last reviewed 13 years ago.

Our local area has already changed significantly, and it is essential that we proactively plan for the expanding future now.

Lots of great ideas were discussed.

We are due to get back together in May to progress the strategy.

IT'S ELECTION YEAR!✅⬇️

Regardless of your political views, it's always nice to be asked.

Today Ellie and I were asked for our opinions by ACT's list MP, Laura McClure.

We were asked about the local business challenges and community vibe in this tough environment, as we navigate the lengthening "Cost of Living Crisis" 💰

A few weeks ago, I received a similar request to chat from National's local MP, Matt Doocey, along with some of my fellow Pegasus Residents Group Board members.

Here's hoping we can influence the influencers!

Out in the miserable weather last night, celebrating the reveal of our new Community Watch car.

The original car was gifted to the Pegasus Residents Group Incorporated (PRGI) in 2015 by the then developer, Todd Property, who had been using it as a site security vehicle inherited from the original developer, Infinity Group.

The current car, a 2002 Honda CRV has now done 314,000 km, which is 82% of the way to the moon.

The Community watch team has a dedicated team of 30 volunteers who give their time to run weekly patrols of 2-3 hours, including extra patrols during the school holidays. The patrol covers the entire Pegasus community and has recently been extended to include the commercial businesses in Ravenswood.

On average, the patrols cover 6,000 km a year, which, when coupled with PRGI’s community-funded CCTV network, helps keep Pegasus safe. Patrol logs are shared with local police, and statistics provide definitive proof of reduced crime rates following these interventions.

The new car, a Kia Stonic, is due to go out on its first patrol in the coming days. We always welcome new volunteers.

Had a great time helping with Toot for Tucker last night.

My car's horn certainly got a good workout 📣

Great to have so many people volunteer to help, and see all the generous donations flow in.

A lot of behind the scenes work goes into delivering this event and the organizers should take a bow 👏

Such a worthy cause, especially at this time of year 🎅

We do have a special community 🏆

Everyone had an amazing time at Toot for Tucker and gave generously. Thanks again to all who helped with collections and to our generous donors.

That's our first Pegasus Residents Group Golf Tournament done and dusted ⛳️

On behalf of the team, I'd like so say thanks so much to all the sponsors, prize donators, players and supporters who made the day such a success 🙌

In particular, I'd like to thank the hard working committee and friends that pulled it all together ❤️

We hope to know the final amount raised in the next few days, and will let you know.

Fingers crossed that we'll be saying a sad farewell to our faithful wagon, whilst welcoming a new filly to our Community Watch stable 🐴🥳

COMMUNITY EMERGENCY HUB 🚨⬇️

The recent extreme weather events have highlighted the need for the community to come together in times of need.

Did you know Pegasus has a team of local volunteers ready to step up when the chips are down? 🦺

With the help of Civil Defence, we are fully trained to establish a Community Emergency Hub that can be activated when necessary.

The hub will complement the activities of Civil Defence and other emergency services.

The Pegasus Community Centre is the planned location for the hub, but we can establish it anywhere.

I've been heavily involved in setting up the hub in Pegasus, but a growing number are being established in North Canterbury.

Just put your hand up to make a positive difference in your community 🙋‍♀️
